bass haiku

You guys are so good!
I'm sorry I didn't search
For an older thread.

Much as I love bass
Would it have any meaning
Without some treble?

My subwoofer rocks!
Flat right down to 20 Hz
Neighbors think me odd

Tonight is practice
Or do we cancel and watch
Election results?

Hi Mr. Wittman
It's an honor to see you
In this humble thread

Can't have too much joy
With the bass pounding rhythm
But Newt was a fan!

Say Hi to Cyndi
We really love her music
It has some great bass!

Where are all my frets?
Now the bass goes "mwah", and growls
Good thing I'm on pitch.

It takes more power
To amplify the low notes
But it moves the soul

Got a crazy phone!
Online searches on "Google"
Download like the wind.

It is now "gig gear";
Every bit as useful as
My bass or my amp.

Some folks have favorites;
They like us, but then they ask:
"Do you know THIS song?"

My bandmate's response:
"Hon, I don't know that song, but...
I bet MICHAEL does!"

Michael gets to work:
Search for "Lyin' Eyes lyrics"
And increase text size.

Prop up on piano,
Place where I can read and sing
This song I don't know.

Never played this song;
Hope my bandmate knows the chords
So I can focus...

Wow! I sang their song!
(If you can call that "singing".)
Played the bass line, too!

O, Technology!
Without you I'd only have
Five dollars in tips.

When the motto is:
"Give the people what they want",
GooglePhones just rock.

Now there's bass haiku
Notes and words wound together
My worlds collide

How happy a place
Where bassists can pound out
A haiku rhythm

Unlike the shrill notes
Of less fortunate guitars
Are deep, rich bass tones

Now I will cease with
This unnatural pattern
Yet so entrancing

i've heard the 5,7,5 form has been disputed. like it's an americanized haiku or something and the real thing is pretty different. but i'm no expert.

haikus are easy
but sometimes they don't make sense
i like jeff ament

A traditional haiku is grouped in the five-seven-five pattern, but they are patterns of... I forget the word, but they were like "letters", specific sound groups that were close enough to syllables that they are practically the same. Only absolute Haiku "tone purists" argue it. :D

Also, they used to play a haiku game like a "call and response". Basically there was a call of the 5-7-5 pattern, then a response of... I think 9-9? (two lines of 9 syl.)

I was bored enough
to learn too much haiku.
Information slut.

Fingers walk my mind.
They search it for the truth.
Translate it to you.

I summon thunder.
I climb a mountain of sound,
and shout from its top.

[I love this corny stuff :D:bassist:]
