One other song choice? "When the Levee Breaks". Why? It's a metaphysical levee that gave way and now it's Earth 2.0 - right?

As to the original OP: No

It will be 10-15 years before one might have the freedom and ability to do so. Maybe longer if there's an EMP strike somewhere in the mix.

There will have to be a heavy Golden Hoard due off and serious eradication of Brigands before any semblance of peace and community reforms. That's probably 6-9 years, then another 5 years before restoration of the power grid (sans an EMP event) begins.

EMP schmee-M-P.

I know how to build a generator, and with a suitable diesel engine I could generate power. Amplification? Vacuum tubes can be made by hand if need be. Discrete components in blister packs at Radio Shack will still work and can be assembled.

Besides, everybody knows that even if you don't dig the sound, Peavey gear will survive nuclear blasts and still work when the world ends.

i would power my rig( and my coms,weapons,vacuum suit,AG harness and detection systems) with a tyconeutron eon mk IV.these units are the size of a cigar tube,weigh about 23 tons in realspace but only a few ounces when the field generator is on. they will supply most types of energy requirement and will last in excess of 12000years.they are of coarse semi sentient,self repairing and look realy bloody cool.

great vintage vid,i think its from the early 21st century.is amazing how primative our tech was in the old days but with everything happening now on a nano level i miss the drama of large tech,and i still LOVE that blue mercury light.out of curiosity where did you find that 1500 year old vid?i thought all youtube vids were destroyed in the first wave of antimatter attacks on the planet back in 3025.

as of now imho the guys that run the world are brigands in suits.the world is rife with corrupt governments(thats all of them ) greed and money rules. when it all falls apart there will be an oppertunity to start afresh but i fear that the lust for power and wealth will win out again and the same type of people will take control and we will be back to square one. i realy hope i'm wrong.

The zombie apocalypse began years ago, I'm not sure exactly when and I don't think anyone knows exactly. But for evidence all you need is consult your TV guide. Shows like Americal Idol, Jersey Shore and all the other not-quite-reality/survival shows are proof of the ever increasing hordes of the brainless.

I can't even count how many I deal with daily.

Try reading "A Canticle For Liebowtz" by Walter M. Miller Jr. It all goes 'round....

And the EMP scenario is bloody likely. The Iranians have already run trials on launching a missile from a ship. The N. Koreans can't be far behind. Other, more powerful nations already can do this. And a dirty bomb would be almost as bad for inducing panic domestically. EMPs and dirties are the elephant in the room for a lot of government types. If you know what I mean (wink-wink nudge-nudge). *All it takes is one.* Stockpile water, ammo, guns, food, and anything worth bartering, cause we're back to an agrarian economy if/when it happens. Unfortunately, an electric bass guitar would be VERY far down the list until many, many years after the event.

I've started looking for one of these... It's a 3KVA generator with an 800W PA system, video projector and screen that runs off the PTO on my 67 Rover. I can run the whole band's amps, plus I can show music videos what on break.

Best of all, the truck doesn't have any electronics, so I don't have to worry about EMP's!

i read somewhere that the native ozzies used to have( and prolly still do) places that they regard as special and sacred where they play their didge musicc and they set up accoustic vibrations that can be heard for miles,MILES!!! it works on a similar principle that we have in the match/mismatch stuff with speakers where some frequencies reinforce others. it is supposed to be quite impressive and VERY LOUD.i think if the STUFF hits the fan we would do well to learn from some of the SO CALLED primitive peoples of this world.
