Bass purchases for 2011

This year I plan on buying everything I need to assemble a parts-P bass.

A Fender MIM P-body.
A Mighty Mite P-bass Neck.
A Gotoh 201 Bridge
A set of Sandberg Adjustable Tension Tuners.
Some CTS Pots.
A switchcraft jack.
and a Bill Lawrence P46 pickup.

If this build turns out to be half as good as what I'm hoping, it's going to rock. :bassist:

I am going to try very hard to not buy another bass. I have a nice 5 string bass, active/passive, jazz style with Bartolini electronics that can get me all the tones I really NEED so although G.A.S. will always be there, I'm going to try and resist.

Now amps is another story. While my combo is fine, I am lusting after all the new Genz Benz stuff. Max 9 heads, Uber cabs, etc., etc.

I have a gorgeous ACG piezo-only bass under construction that should be ready in a few weeks. HG Thor is epoxying the fingerboard of my Singlecut R-Bass and I have a nice jazz-style bass coming together using parts from several earlier DIY experiments.

I think I'd like less this year than more.

It's between these 2 jazzes and a P for sure this year. I'm torn between the 70's Jazz and that Fiesta Red Roadworn Jazz. Never really liked red on basses, but that hue has me gassing. I know it's all down to preference, 70's pu spacing and aesthetics, but I cannot make up my mind. As for the P, I want that gold pickguard on sunburst!

I'm also thinking of custom building my own jazz and p with parts from Mighty Mite and Warmoth. Or I just might take an Ash body for my VM.

On the brink of the new year, tomorrow as a matter of fact, I'm going to collect the Godin Shifter bass I've orderded.
I expect it to be the best of all (jazz- and p-bass) worlds for my music which is blues(rock) and old-school soul.
And I very much like the looks that remind me of the first Fender bassguitar.
So for 2011, allthough allways full of GAS, I expect to not get me another bass... ;)
