Muzz Skillings' solo begins at 2:16. I was so into this when I was about 16. Obsessively learned this solo note-for-note way back then. A great study in playing something really interesting over simple chord changes.

Tommy doesn't get enough credit. Saw the MT band in '77. They topped the bill of four bands here and the soundman definitely was a Tommy fan for sure. Man, his playing and tone were ferocious and especially during his solo.

I don't know why but 1973-1976 people in the Northeast went NUTS for Southern Rock. I was living near Utica NY at the time and saw MT many times, usually with the Charlie Daniels Band. ZZ Top, Elvin Bishop, Grinderswitch, Wet Willie, David Allen Coe, the Outlaws, Black Oak Arkansas, Barefoot Jerry ... I saw all these bands in 4 years at least 3 times each. I'm so happy to have had those experiences. Those were some amazing bands live. I sure miss guitar solos.

It was definitely their moment in the sun. Marshall Tucker were different from the regular "southern rock" crowd.
I loved their sound so much.
