Probably the lightest package packing the biggest punch that I have heard is the EA Wizzy extension cab. Unbelievable for its size and weight (though no tweeter, for those who love 'em).


Thanks, for the input. Luckily, I have a high-end bass store within a reasonable drive. I'll check some EA gear out. The one other cab I would like to hear some day is the Phil Jones stuff. No one sells it around me, and I just can't buy without a test drive. Thanks again.

If you are ever able to audition the Phil Jones cabs, especially if you could A/B them to EA or Accugroove gear, I would be very interested in hearing what you thought of them. Have fun!

I am looking to buy a cab for my Clarus and Glock Bass Art Pre, I am inclined towards 200 W Acoustic Art Mark III from Glockenklang. I read good review of this Cab, or may be Bass Art for a bigger volume. Any body has experienced this cab ?

I just tried a Epifani 110UL and it sounded great with my upright and electric and weighed just 22lbs. I also own a EA Cxl 112. I'm interested to see how they blend together for the louder gigs.

Ok I finally took the plunge.
I bought a Walter Woods Head.

Now I need suggestions on a good cabinet to produce sound.

I play mostly Jazz but I do perform some gospel and occasional rock or R/B gig.

My current setup is a 3/4 Carved Mathias Thoma Double Bass,
Walter Woods Head Hi power (mono), Fishman BP- 100 pickup. Fender 4 string percision.

What will work well as a cabinet?

I want to be able to double with an electric bass.

Most of my gigs are medium size clubs but I do play the out door concerts during the summer and will soon be performing regularly in a large indoor 50,000 square foot room.

There are so many cabinets, all are supposed to have their strengths. I need something that is geared towards producing a quality sound with the Double Bass but won't dissappoint with the electric bass.

All suggestions are appreciated.

Not a double bass, but someone who is very particular about his sound says in an interview:

Steve Swallow: Road setup: Harvey Citron 5-string, hollow-body, 36" scale bass, with an EMG piezo pickup and La Bella medium-light roundwound strings, played through a 1970s Walter Woods amp into whatever speaker cabinet is provided.

I am seriously looking into an EA Wizzy cabinet. I think they are perfect for Double Bass.

You may want to get rid of the BP-100 if you want to have a really good tone.
