Re Mio's English voice actress - unfortunately, the studios here in the US don't always get folks with good singing voices for parts that involve singing, unlike most of the Japanese studios. Biggest example I can think of - the English voice actress for Minmay in "Robotech." Yuck. Which is one reason I prefer subtitles to dubs if I can find them...

Mari Ijima did a much better and believable job.

And that is why I don't watch Anime dubbed. My Japanese has gotten better too so I don't feel that I need to watch it in English. My experience is that most Anime that are dubbed doesn't sound good or is translated horribly. Like Naruto, especially on the Disney Channel... :rollno:

Heh. Back when I got into anime, (Yeah, back when Christ was a corporal...) us fen had to learn Japanese to figure out what was going on in anime and manga. We found ways to subtitle our own copies of anime shows and movies, as there wasn't much of any anime in English available, and most of it badly dubbed. (Sandy Frank aka "Sandy Stank" in anime fandom, anyone?) At the time, the good thing was that Japanese VHS and Laser Disks were in the same format as US ones, so you could have pen pals / friends in Japan buy you LDs or VHS tapes (or tape stuff off the TV for you) and you could watch them without any problems here in the US. After suffering thru the mangled versions of Gatchaman ("Battle of the Planets"), Robotech, etc all, yeah, I prefer subtitled when I can get them. But if there aren't subtitled versions on DVD, then I'll have to take the dubbed versions...and watch the fan subtitled episodes on the web. *Sigh* I just wish I didn't have to buy a multi-regional DVD player in order to watch Japanese DVDs.

I think the blame would fall squarely on Disney for that one. Since i don't think They can So half the stuff that goes on in some of theses shows.

Much like DBZ Kai on Nickelodeon channel.

I will admit I like Robotech in the sense that it opened my eyes to Anime. I am Macross Fan and some of the stuff from Frontier is cool.

Though I must Admit i thought it was cool as heck that in the Girls first Live the Festivel it went into a Music Video-esque style and they were ridden around in a 59 Cadillac El Dorado drop top.

I've given up on relying on outside sources for my animu music.

Because of my OCD, though, it takes at least a month to tab a single song. Every single note has to be completely accurate! I've noticed that tabs online had a good tendency to be incorrect...

But in the end it's super-gratifying! I just finished tabbing Futuristic Imagination, the ending song for Eden of the East, so it's off to practice for me! :bassist:
