Basses Named After Car

On Corvette ships, the name was originally applied to small sailing ships. By WWII, the term was used for small anti-submarine ships such as the "Flower-class" corvettes. That's where Chevy got the name.

And then there is the Mustang. Sure, it is the famous Ford with the galloping pony logo, and there was the famous P-51 Mustang fighter plane; most consider it to be the ultimate in American piston-engined pursuit planes. And before that, mustangs were wild horses!

Worth a de-rail. ESP Japan is NUTS with the quality & tone. I personally lust over that Viper Bass, It would blow any Gibson out of the atmosphere!

I kinda like them, the ESP Japan site reminds me of Tokyo itself- Sorta Disneyland, with sound trucks driving thru town, playing Taylor Swift's latest.

IKEBE is pretty down with good info/pics.specs. The translations can be a little jinky sometimes, better than me trying to speak Japanese when over there- It's an incredibly difficult language for Westerners.

Many of the Japanese builders put their headstock logos etc in English. "Why?" I asked when in Shibuya.
"Because they think it's COOL!" I was told.:roflmao:

Maybe if you have a grasp on the way things flow, then the websites may be a little easier.

Unfortunately, Asia is somewhere I haven't had the pleasure of spending any time (I hope to change that soon), but to me they remind me of the websites in the 90's where "if it exists, add it to the website" was the general consensus ;)

Even with the time I've spent, Japan is a mystery- That's the beauty. And my knowledge is nothing really, I just go there for the Basses!
One story to relate just for kicks:
In any of the amazing Bass-Specific shops, or even the Bass Departments at the big stores, like MusicLand Key-
The selections are breath-taking, nothing like it here in the USA- (We just had a thread about bass availability on TB recently- consensus was-it sucks!:roflmao:)

Anyhoo- In Japan when you wish to play a bass- It's a ritual. The clerk takes it off the wall, polishes it, tunes it w/ headstock tuner, plugs it in to appropriate store-selected amp for testing, re-polishes it, then FINALLY hands it over to you to play. (Unlike GC, where a 12-year old wanker just effed-up an expensive Fender...:smug:)
Although I totally respect this, and it is so by nature Japanese, I went to LOTS of Bass shops-Shibuya Ochanomizu, Ebisu, etc.
It got old.
Last rip, final store, the process happened on a magnificent Wood n Tronics I was dying to play, and I couldn't help it...
I just blurted out (In English) "Would you gimme that Bass, already! I know what I'm doing!"
In an earlier Century, that could have got me be-headed!:D
