OP is complaining about entertainment that is provided to him free of charge. He was requesting that those who do the reviews, free of charge, do them in a different manner to please him. The suggestion was that if a particular video bugged him because of the slap, he should turn it off and look at a different video, rather than make the somewhat empty request (here, no less, instead of in the comments on the video itself) that they play less, or no, slap bass in the video.Wrong about what? He's stating his opinion, and I believe its a valid, logical position. But I digress. I was speaking to a specific group of people who were telling him to just not care about it, then ironically posted in here to tell him that.
Also, I have absolutely nothing against slapping or tapping. I just understand the experience that the OP is discussing, because in my search for review vids on specific gear items, it was really difficult to wade through the reviews that primarily showed the slap capabilities of the amp rather than what the vast majority use it for.
I don't think he was formally requesting anything. I took it as a rant about something the OP has experienced a lot. Something you see on here and every other message board on the internet ALL THE TIME. Its no different than someone ranting about drummers, guitar players, bass players not smiling, wearing shorts, or whatever else they feel like ranting about. Do you take other rant threads as specific, formal requests to everyone that person is ranting about? I hope not....OP is complaining about entertainment that is provided to him free of charge. I am not asking the OP to not make posts like this. I am saying he is wrong to think requesting someone who is providing something free of charge should change their ways to suit him, and doubly wrong to ask them here, instead of in the comments section of the actual videos themselves. To me it sounds like whining.
TL; DR - He was not merely expressing an opinion, he was specifically asking other random anonymous people to change their behavior to suit him. Just because most of the music OP plays might not have much slapping in it, doesn't mean there are not other styles where it is prevalent.
I take things at face value. If you really have trouble with my post, then maybe consider taking it as a rant as well.I don't think he was formally requesting anything. Fair enough. Have a good one!I take things at face value. If you really have trouble with my post, then maybe consider taking it as a rant as well.

Ever see a football player needlessly jump on the pile of other players comprised of about half of both teams? Well, here I go...
I rather enjoy the slapping in reviews. To each his own. It's a technique just like any other and for every person the video irritates, there's another person who'll benefit from it. As others mentioned, I can't tell what the slap tone would be like from a fingerstyle only review.
It's too easy to just stop watching and move on to the next video if we don't like it.![]()
Videos in general are not relevant to me. I find myself watching some demo for a pedal or an amp thinking "I do not play anything like this guy so what is the point?"

I was looking through videos to try to find some objective reviews of the Mesa Subway head and about 60-70% of them were literally all just slapping
