Basses that just sound BAD...

I know a few people will kick my b*tt when I say this....... the worst sounding bass (for the money) has to be my Lakland Deluxe 55-94!! I bought it because I already had a Joe Osborn (active version) which is a very punchy bass. When I got the 55-94 I was so disappointed about the sound! It had no character at all, kind of like "all flash but no smash". I traded it for a Mike Lull Modern 5V.

What I want to know is why so many people mis-spell Rogue as Rouge - now I can understand typos and slips but why is it always this one? Why not Rogeu or Orgue or Roeogu?

I think that some bassplayers must have a subliminal, "repressed" desire to use Rouge and other makeup on their face or something - who's been playing with Mama's stuff again!! ;)

Not to my knowledge, but that was the next bass (the XL-2) that he started using after the T-40 but that wasn't till the "Frontiers" tour. He currently plays Curbow 4 strings tuned B, E, A, D.

I bet more than half of the people that say soudgears suck havent even played them, going on the say off some "Influental" bass player. soundgears are not basses that JUST SOUND BAD. Freaking rouges sound freaking bad, as in, suck, crap, no good, kramer focus, JUST PLAIN BAD.

I can say that the tone of Soundgears suck, because I own one. It's the worst sounding of all of the basses that I own.

That you OWN. It's asking for basses that just sound BAD, and i guess thats a vauge word, but i took it to mean horrible, i knwo alot of people with SDgears that are way happy with them, i played them next to alot of basses and found them pretty good for the money.

I will say this:

IME, The pickups and electronics of every Soundgear I've played were substandard, especially the 5-string ones. The necks seemed to be freaking toothpicks, and the B-string sounded like absolute @ss IMO. I think the BTB's are OK though. Never played an ATK.

I am definitely not a Soundgear fan, but I really do not like Ibanez much generally anyways. IMO, there are better basses for the price than a Soundgear.
