Basses you love to hate?

This is not a slanging match for everyone and his/her dog to jump in the ring and have a go at but I would like to know if there is a brand of guitar that you would not consider buying but like a certain model.

I'll Start.

Warwick basses are not my cup of tea although they sound awesome I would not consider buying one as I'm not a fan of the looks. BUT Mike Inez from Alice in chains has the most stunning Silver burst Warwick I have ever seen and I would love to own that bad boy.

Oh and I would love a status buzzard but a Warwick Buzzard would come a close second.

What's your poison? :bassist:

Please stick to the topic and not question other peoples choices as we all have our own opinions even if you don't agree.

U.S. Plus Jazz Bass. I hated the Lace Sensors and the Kubicki designed preamp was noisy (major hiss). I bought mine new, in '90 or '91. After using it for about a month, I pulled the stock electronics and put active Duncan's in it. After about a year, I put the stock stuff back in it and traded it for a Japanese '70's Jazz reissue. I never looked back.

Edit: I forgot to mention Steinbergers--4 or 5 string. HAYTE 'em (Yes, with a Y. It's that bad).

Fender made a series of very nice basses in red and blue with a paisley design on the front - don't remember what they're called. I got overdosed on paisley during the 60's and wouldn't own one just because of the cosmetics....even though every word I've heard about them is positive.

I remember looking at the blue one many moons ago, I don't think I have seen one since.

4 string basses ... it is like they are missing a string ...

:hiding:

Also Peavey basses ... Ya I know some here love them ...

pointy warlock basses ... they just don't look good ...

Marcus miller jazz bass 4 strings ( Used to own one, input broke every month for a year), And although i may get some negative feedback for my hatred of these instruments, i must say i despise Metal basses. Specifically B.C rich models like the warlock, i appreciate metal, but in most cases i can rarely hear the bass. So the way i loot at it is, if you cant hear it, there is no real point in buying what looks like an uncomfortable, cheaply made/looking instrument.

Ok, Keeping in the topic you hate Metal basses but is there a model you wouldn't mind owning? for example I had a BC Rich mockingbird that broke as soon as I had it, so I had to send it back. I wouldn't buy a BC Rich But would buy a mockingbird again if it worked. I agree they are uncomfortable to play :)

Ok Guys what make of bass are you not keen on but would buy a particular model just because it has taken your eye, even though you don't like the brand?

Not a fan of Fender of course, but I'd love a Roscoe Beck 5 string. Maybe I like it because it's not very Fender-ish :)

I'll also add Ibanez Soundgear to the list. I'll never understand how they sold more than 4 of those stupid things, much less how they became so damn popular.
