I prefer if people refer to the bass player as "Lord of Low Frequency, and Regent of Subsonic Realm"

Musician(bassist). Bass Player is a magazine, and a popular description.
Back in the day, we didn't have "bassists". All we had were bass players and we were just fine with that. Then I started hearing about these "bassists" and figured it must be some new fad that had something to do with all that poppin and slappin or something.
