I had the chance to buy a blonde tolex piggyback Bassman amp and cab with Chris’ name stenciled on both pieces from Joe Chambers ( President and CEO Musician ‘s Hall of Fame and a hell of a good guy) in the late 80s for a great price. Wish I had. And I bet Joe wishes he’d kept it for his museum.

Yep, although he is an acoustic bass icon, he shouldn’t be ignored here; while Paul Chambers work set the standard, I always enjoyed this rendition...
I remember reading an interview years ago with Ron Carter and he was talking about getting an Aston Martin station wagon to be able to get his bass around comfortably. I don’t know if he ever got one or not.

He had quite a career. I got to see him perform(ironically on acoustic guitar)in LA at a Gram tribute event years ago; now I live about 20 minutes from the spot where Gram’s body was burned.
