Huge in the UK, a cult band in the US, not one, but two of their British hits were mangled by Quiet Riot.
I thought Noddy Holder was the bass player since I’ve seen the signature model Warwick bass around. A quick search reveals he was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. I have always been aware of the band and the right age (60 in July) to have been active in their hey day, just hadn’t got heavily into them. I’ll be sure to check them out . Thanks.

C’mon, those guys get plenty of discussion here, and are very well known in the bass world. Please, let’s keep this to overlooked and under the radar players; I’m learning about new(to me)people. Otherwise, when it veers off course from the OP’s original premise, it ends up like all the other threads where it’s nothing but a random ‘favorite bass players’ list. OK, rant over.
Now, before there was reggae, there was ska(evolving out of calypso, soca, and New Orleans R&B)and in the beginning, in Jamaica, there was Byron Lee...
...not only was he a bandleader, but he introduced the electric bass to Jamaican music, and he and his calypso band were featured in the first James Bond movie, Dr. No...
