Bassists of the '60's Club.

It has been a fun ride for the past few years and I have enjoyed posting new threads, most of which promoting the appreciation for the bassists and music of the 60's.

I have met many new friends. Unfortunately, some have since passed but, it is time to move on.

Thanks for the support I have received from many. To others, I hope you will remember where your music originated...

Best Regards,
Jim

Thank you!! I am biased, but methinks you are still needed ‘round here!

A recent post on the thread had Argent’s “Hold Your Head High” which is always fun for me. I actually heard it on the radio yesterday and it immediately took me back to a time and place: Yonkers, NY in 1972. I was just starting a paperboy route and was under the wing of the much older guy “retiring” from the route. He seemed so…cool. He carried a medium size radio with him on the route and several songs seared into my brain because of their power and also the nerves I felt as I took on such an “adult” role. (We store memories better when under stress or experiencing strong emotions.) That Argent song is still such a Time Machine for me.

Thank you for the kind words...

I always try to keep an open mind about music.

I have spent many years trying to take in all the music I can and learn as much as I can manage.

I really love the older Blues and Jazz tunes but if music was a food I would say that the 60’s Rock, Pop, Soul and Blues is my comfort food.

I have enjoyed your efforts to keep this Thread going.

All Hail Soul Reflection !!!

Hail Soul, It's been a great ride. Thanks!
Ahhhhh. Route 66. I spent several summer vacations in the late '50s in the back of a station wagon driving the length of the Route. The Interstate Highway system was formed in '56, but there wasn't much of it in place yet. Route 66 was THE way to go.

Why did you pick that sign for an avatar?

Get your kicks on route 66. I drove what's left of it in my 73 MGBGT. It was a good time for me,
I spent my last 8 years in the U.S. before moving to France living in Flagstaff on Route 66. It felt like coming home. We even had one of the limited number of boutique music stores left in operation: Arizona Music Pro. Good peeps. The owner even took good care of us bass players!

Is it me or has there been a significant drop in TB activity over the last several months? May be just my imagination but what I used to see as pretty busy traffic -- sometimes in fits and starts -- seems to have dwindled to just a post here and there over the half dozen or so threads I dabble in. I have to wonder if it's at all related to the change in TP site a few months back or if everybody is just getting tired. Or they've said all they have to say.

It is for me. Just seems to disorganized or something. But hard to find the threads I want, so I just ignore most except threads I am watching.

It seems to be turning into a "Talk Pedals" site. Which is of no interest to me. But, then I'm a GOF who's chain went, guitar>cord>Amp.

The last three posts are just some of the reasons why I have chosen to become a Guest of TB and only monitor this and the other thread I started. While supporting the evolution of bass, I have other things to do than listen to the "modernization" of bass and music in general. I have never suggested I was anything other than a GOF

There's been a drop since the software upgrade. Some people dislike or couldn't cope with the changes. Some didn't want to wait for things to get sorted. Others just don't like change. There's also a lot of malaise in the world in general. While traffic is down, most of the threads I'm involved in are still healthy.
