Ya, he also did lead vocals on a track in "hear in the now frontier," I think. He has really nice lead voice as well.
Chris Squire of Yes--he and lead singer Jon Anderson actually trade off on the high parts of their vocal arrangements. His contribution has defined those harmonies, which in turn defines their vocal sound. A great background singer contributing to making a great band--besides being a great bassist.
I am not too caught up with bassists/singers other than Sting, Tom Araya, and Les Claypool. Can anyone fill me in on some really top notch bass/singers?

Not only is she great on her own, but when she sings "Under Pressure" with David Bowie it brings tears to my eyes.

I wouldn't say he's "awesome", but Marcus Miller. His singing on "Boomerang" with Lalah Hathaway on the Master Of All Trades DVD sends shivers down my spine.
How about Jim Ferguson? I have never seen him live but if he can walk thoes lines and sing than I am in awe.

Dude, you found the thread. How's about reading it? Are we supposed to regurgitate the same list of names once more for your benefit?
But in my opinion, top of the list is Paul McCartney, by a mile. Anything else can be awesome, and still vastly inferior!

Glenn Hughes, without a doubt. Incredible range and does rock vox and soul/blues vox equally well. His vocal stuff with Trapeze back in the day was nothing short of inspiring.
Oteil Burbridge has a great voice. He's mainly known for scatting over his bass solos, but the latest Peacemakers album has him singing lead on two songs. I'd like to see him take over most of the vocal duties. Also, Fred Hammond!
Paul McCartney, Brenden Kelly, and Kim Deal are my favorite bass player singers. Kelly has a very energetic hangover vocal style that suite his bands well and most people know what the other two sound like.
