Basslite SC10 sealed cab drivers

I'm curious about what you thought comparing the stock svt210av drivers compared to the sc10?

In the SVT 210 boxes, the SC10's go deeper and are slightly less efficient but will play louder than the stock Ampeg drivers. They are also more neutral and less colored than the stock. They move much more air so they deliver more punch in the low mids. I haven't done a careful A/B comparison, but the SC10s possibly give up a little definition vs the stock, but this is probably due to the additional low frequency content.

The small enclosure volume of the Ampeg boxes are a limiting factor in terms of the bass response of the SC10s--in the custom boxes that Don built for me (circa 1.9 gross volume for the 210) the SC10s put out MUCH more bass than the stock 210AVs.

That sounds about right to me. The ampeg have a little more middle mids and less lows so, they would have that effect.

I gotta pair for one of my 210AV's. As has been mentioned, more low end than the stock speakers. Not necessarily what I was looking for, but it will be interesting comparing them. Makes a single 210AV applicable in more situations for me, but I'm looking forward to mixing with the stock 210AV for two cab gigs.

dmac1961, have you tried mixing the SC-10 cab with the stock cab yet? If so, what was your experience. I'm thinking about doing the same thing, or just retrofitting both 210AV's with the SC-10s

Anyone try the stock ampeg drivers in a bigger cab? You guys who have both drivers and bigger cabs should,try it. It may be a happy medium.

Outside are 42.5 tall, 13 wide, 15 deep. 1/2" plywood.

do u think these sc2010-16's in a 2-10 that has slightly more box volume, ( such as the 210 workingman or the 210 ampeg combo that i sent u dimensions for ) would be ok? or do they kinda need to be the size box your are using for your vert 4-10?
the other option for me is the daytons, as we discussed last week

been wondering when someone would get there act together for some viable sealed design(s)

i figured.. maybe bock the port(s) / vents or increase loading by a slight port reduction to tune low-end rolloff

do the sc10's have any advantage over the daytons other than weight? looks as if the upper freq. range is about same as dayton u recommended
what are the pro and cons besides price and weight
not sure how the dayton does in a sealed box ?

regarding the dayton
advantage number 2 would be the 16ohm option (on the basslite sc10) vs the dayton
i have gathered that parallel is better than series for bass cabs
in light of the fact that i may want to run the v4 (all tube ampeg through or 2 of these 2-10 cabs i have

the parallel sc10's may trump the dayton in weight as well as upper freq (by about 400hz)?
sorry for the million questions, but i like trying to do the best possible set-up, if i am ever gonna get decent new 10's for one these rigs

Yes, per cost and weight. The tone will be a little different but, I haven't used the 's myself. If you are just replacing the see drivers and want to stay ported, the .ca is supposed to be a drop in replacement.

but it looks like they are both pretty similar in most of the specs

yea on the ca series they look to be like cast alum frame betas with more options for ohmage

For ported, the s2010 is the way to go for a 2x10.

still have those alpha tens from you.
the specs say they will work in a .3-.4 sealed.
they (the alphas) might not like the TB1200 power or my svt (all tube 2006 usa model) and the drop C# tunings we use for some modern rock songs?

rekon the faitals may be better for a sealed 2-10?
kinda tryin to end up with 4ohms though to run on top of a 610 ampeg that is a little boomy lacking in upper mids for me.
keep tweeter way down (not a big fan of tweets)

I'd say equal, but different tone. Both work better sealed in .85 to 1.5 cuft each.

will33 gave me the impression that the approx 1cf per speaker was too small, in a (correction) swr 210 working man (looks about same size cab as this goliath jr III i also have) with a shelf port that i am considering sealing.
stock speakers are creasing around the edges (were kinda bad when i bought it- feel like i was slightly ripped off)

do you think the ca's (in the working man (stock porting) would be ok on top of the 610 (4ohm) ampeg; 4+4=2ohm with a TB1200 or svt classic (all tube) for dome drop C# stuff in the practice room, have 2 guitars going fairly loud?
would be kinda worried about blowing those alpha 10's
