Basson Cabs = Bad Customer Service

I was interested in one of the 210's from Basson but had a really bad experience from the team over the phone and through email. I don't mean to knock Basson's products at all, I just wonder if anybody else had had a bad experience with them. Weird because every review says they're great in the customer service department, but they lost my business almost instantly.

Best way to do anything about that is tell them that. If not for you, then for their potential future customers which may be another TalkBass member. Email them or phone them and say "Sorry, I won't be purchasing your products because frankly your pre-sales customer service is terrible. You have lost me as a customer."

If that doesn't make them change their tune then nothing will and it's not worth buying from them.

It doesn't really matter. Just curious. The fact is, not EVERYBODY can be pleased by every company. I seriously don't think their products are bad at all. I think they're well built and much better sounding than a lot of mainstream cabs out there that are being made overseas (props Basson for that). From my dealings with them though I just can't see them staying in business for more than 3 years....A genuine "sorry Basson," time will tell.

I always thought that the wattage demands that Basson cabs place on the buyer were so insane that nobody would ever buy them, but it appears that they've found a niche with downtuning metalheads. Never had any dealings with them because 28hz cabs that require 1000w just to make the magnets work are so not my thing, but you're the first person I ever heard who ever had problems dealing with them. They have a presence on here and are usually pretty responsive.

If you're being totally honest with yourself, can you say that in your call to them that you were being reasonable your own self? The reason I ask that is because sometimes people have this misconception that the customer is always right, even when they're being completely unreasonable and demanding. Not saying you were, but as someone who has to deal with unreasonable customers sometimes, sometimes customers don't realize how much of a PITA they are ;)

Yea totally JimmyM, I've been in customer service a long time myself, actually that's how I became interested in Basson in the first place, all the rave reviews on their customer service. I started this thread...to get a pulse on the true story (if it's not truly being represented by Basson). I've had to deal with "pita's" in the music business, usually lawers collecting privet stock PRS gear for a profet down the road, I'm hardly one of them. I work hard for my money and am carefull who get;s it at the end of the day. This time it was Mesa-Boogie.

Well to be honest Basson cabs have far less endorsee's than any of the other cab companies especially the companies that are much bigger than Basson.

18eranaRic do you mind explaining what happened?

And I only mentioned that I'm an endorsee because it's TB rule.

18eranaRic, going on the internet to a site with this one's prominence and starting a thread in which you predict the demise of a company could very well effect the psychology of potential customers and thus hurt that company. If such is not your intention, you might consider editing that post, at which point it would probably make sense for me to remove this paragraph as well.

In my opinion until the rest of us have heard from the other side, I don't think we are in a position to pass judgment.

118% (and a tweeter) with you on this comment.

Yes I do have extremely bad taste.

It's interesting how you now want to slyly bash the company and those who choose to the Basson product.

I have asked you how I can be of help and you have yet to allow me that opportunity.

Victor Basson and all the guys at basson want nothing but the best for their customers.

I know two people that contacted Basson directly via email with honest questions about their products and were met with less than stellar "prospective customer" service. The questions were honest and cogent, the responses were defensive and abusive. That is an exceptionally small sample size to make any statements about overall customer service from a given company, but it is enough for me to form my own personal opinions.

You do have your opinion but I will go on record to say that I
find it hard to believe that Victor Basson or any of the people at the company would display the attitude mentioned in this thread.

Sometimes when people feel that they are rock stars, that they should be treated as such and when their not their ego's are shattered.
