Battlestar Galactica - TNS

It's not just my favorite scifi show, it's my favorite show period!

I hate cliffhangers!!!:D Can't wait to see how this one comes out.

I didn't like the pilot/TV movie/whatever it was, but I have been hooked on the series pretty much since episode 1. And it gets better each week. Gotta get that season 1 DVD!

+1. Easily the best show that's been on TV for years, although it takes a backseat to Robotech for my favorite of all time. That's just my hangup, though :)

It took me a little bit to get over the BSG TV movie because I was expecting something on the light/campy side like the original series. It was soooo dark. When Baltar's Cylon girlfriend snapped the neck of the baby in its stroller it made me cringe and sent shivers down my spine (I believe this scene was removed from the DVD).

Once I got over the shock of the new BSG not being disco gladiators in space I was pretty cool with it. Now I make sure I don't miss an episode.

I thought it was too, but it's in there. Just re-watched the mini for the first time since it aired. I'd forgotten how good it is, really. When I first saw it, I missed so much because half the time I was freaking out about how different it was. Now that I'm used to the new Galactica universe, I enjoyed it far more.

I loved the original as a kid, but that was then. This is so much better in just about every respect, that it's stupid. It is dark, but it should be. As Ron Moore (exec producer) has stated repeatedly, it's about the near complete genocide/extinction of the entire human race. It should be dark; it's a dark premise.

I love this show. I really think they do a great job comming up with new situations and challenges that dont feel forced, and resolve pretty well also. A lot of shows these days seems like they are grasping in either the situation area, or the resolution area, and this show does both with ease.

I also hate cliffhangers Jeff...looking forward to the next one! Thats one thing Ive liked too, not a lot of those leave you on the edge of your seat things. They tend to resolve an episode before its over, or at least enough you dont feel cheated hehe.

Yea, definitely none of that "oh look, there's 3 minutes left to this Star Trek episode! Insert some techno-babble, push a few buttons and voila! Problem solved" plot resolution technique.

Considering all the other bombs Sci-Fi produces I'm surprised this show has good dialog and plot. Really turned out to be a great show.

I'm a little late but the show is amazing. I never saw it when it was on and always wanted to watch it but figured I had to watch the original first, and I tried, but I couldn't do it. It was just too campy. Too silly. Based one what I've read about it, the remake is a reimagining with enough major differences so it's not just another remake. It's great. Really a great show.

It's an awesome show...one of the best series I've ever watched anywhere. I caught on about midway through the first season...I was hesitant at first for two reasons; because most of the in house offerings from sy-fy channel were...not very good, and as you mentioned, the overly campiness of the original, which got progressively worse as that show went on.

The reimage couldn't be any more different than the original. Serious, gritty, sometimes pretty heavy. Makes you think. Very, very well done CGI scenes. I've re-watched it 5 or 6 times since it ended.

It did get a little preachy and young-adult-soap-opera-ey at times - I mostly liked it, but just didn't grab me quite enough to watch the whole thing.

I started season 3. Roslin rigging the election was pretty surprising. Her assistant walked off when they heard the numbers and it was like oh my goodness that sneaky sneaky lady.
Yeah, they did a lot of "moral grey area" playing around, which I expected from some of the characters but I had hoped for better from her. I may have to give it another try to see how it all turned out.

Hmm, coincidental this should appear on the first page of OT today, as I'm watching the final episode of Caprica right now. It was a great series, shame they didn't get a 2nd season or a proper finalé.

I'll be starting the reimagined BSG soon, but TBH I didn't really dig it when I saw bits & pieces when it first aired.

It's sooo good. Please don't read any of this thread. The twists and turns in the show are legitimately surprising.

Ha, I was going to mention that in my first post, that I'm not going to read any of this.
Although, being a fan of the original, I'll obviously know what's coming with Admiral Cain.

I also re-watched all of the original series recently, every Saturday night on Me TV.
but not all episodes of Galactica 80, you know where they were flying on motorbikes & caused a Cylon to malfunction with a microwave
The Return of Starbuck is the best out of that series.
