Bayou Audio Cables anyone?

When I placed the order online, I received an email back stating that turnaround was about 2 weeks, and he had approx. 30 other orders to get to first. I'm not sure if this was a standard automated reply or one that he typed up in response to my order.

I live in Baton Rouge, so I may have to just stop by his place and find out myself :smug:

I received exactly the same response to an online order that I placed on July 7, 2010. I sent a follow-up e-mail requesting an update on the order three days ago and I have not as yet received a response.

I don't understand why he would be accepting orders and payments if he did not intend to fill the orders.

If anyone has any current information as to whether or not Butch is still making cables, please let us know.

I received an e-mail from Butch this evening indicating that my new cable had been shipped.

I am really looking forward to trying it out after all of the good things that I have read about these products..

I will report back upon receipt and I am really glad to know that Bayou Cables is apparently still in business.

My new cable from Bayou Cables arrived this afternoon. My order was placed online on July 7th so it really only took about four weeks from order to receipt and Butch did apologize for the delay.

I ordered a Canare GS-6 instrument cable with Neutrik black/gold straight and right angle connectors.

I ordered a blue cable which looks great with my sonic blue P bass and I should be able to see it a bit better than the black Mogami cable that I have been tripping over for the last several months.

The cable and connector quality is great and Butch did a wonderful job of putting them together. Very high quality work and the sound seems to be a bit clearer and has a bit more volume than my previous cable.

Bayou Cables price was also fantastic for the quality.

If you ever read these forums....Thanks Butch! Really nice work.

Glad to hear the positive report. I need to order a couple more cables.

Ditto.

I also ordered some cable from Butch maybe 4 or 5 years ago and he was a bit slow but not terrible. Lava Cables was right on time with my order and I love my blue Canare cable ;)

Another plus with Lava cables is their no questions asked replacement.
I had one of my Lava cables for my X2 wireless go bad and they had a replacement at my door in 3 days no charge!:hyper:

I ordered one cable from Bayou back in April. I don't remember the exact details but there weren't any problems. Butch said up front that there would be a delay, and it wasn't any longer than he said. It's a great cable at a good price. If he's having problems I'm sorry to hear it.

Not surprising there would be a thread on this topic...

I've also ordered from Butch several times during the past few years. Never a problem. Always great product at a great price. Until now...

On November 2, 2010, I ordered two (2) custom Canare 25-foot instrument cables. And I've been waiting ever since - three months and counting... :atoz:

I've followed up at least three times via email during this time - including a message I sent three weeks ago, informing him that I would give him until the end of January to get back to me - or I would escalate the matter. No response.

I would willingly work with him for awhile longer - if he would only get back to me, and let me know what's going on. As it stands, I'm on the verge of seeking a refund via PayPal... :eyebrow:

Ive ordered from Butch in the past and had no issues. However back in July I tried to place an order and he was not taking orders at that time.

For great cables talk to Mike at Norton cable. I know him personally and hes a great guy and very knowledgable.

Update: I tried to reach Butch by telephone a couple hours ago. No answer. No luck.

Decided to register a report via PayPal Resolution Center - but since the transaction is more than 45 days old, no dice there either. Best I could do was to send Butch another email - this time via PayPal.

Went back to my own email account a minute later...and there I found an update from Butch, time stamped about 25 minutes earlier, explaining that he's been getting caught up on orders, that he's waiting on another supply of black Canare cable, and that he'll be finishing up my custom cables next week, and getting 'em right out to me.

Sheer coincidence? Possibly. Or not.

Either way, it looks like my wait will soon be over. FWIW...

Yeah, I don't understand why they won't take action on orders for product when the item was never shipped.

Definition of transaction: something transacted; especially : an exchange or transfer of goods, services, or funds <electronic transactions>

When a vendor doesn't deliver the goods, there was no exchange, thus, no transaction.

I filed a report with Visa last year for an item that wasn't delivered until 4 months after payment. They allowed the 45 days to start when I received the goods. I was able to get a refund.

I've ordered several cables from Butch in the last few years. The cables and prices are excellent, but his turnaround time has become very poor. As several of you have reported, it can be as much as two months. It wasn't always that way.

Well, sure wish I'd read this thread before ordering from Bayou.
I needed a P-bass wiring harness, so of course I thought of Butch.
He made one for me a few years back and it was excellent quality
and sent promptly. This time, not so much.

My PP receipt is dated Feb 12. On Mar 6, I got this order update:

The comments for your order are

I will get to your order as soon as I can. Bayou Cables is a one person operation. I make each order one at a time, custom to order.

Turnaround is running a couple of weeks right now, I have about 50 pending orders.

Frankly, I was not impressed with the "I'll get to it when I can"
dialog. Sounded defensive to me. If you are that busy, either
update your website to that effect - or shut it off for awhile till you
get caught up.

Anyways, that was the last I heard and now it is April. I have
the rest of the bits for the project and it's all sitting around waiting.
I'll probably have my own harness made and installed by the time
his shows up. I think I am outside any protection PP would give
me, so I guess I'm just stuck.

A shame really, he had good stuff and a good reputation.

Another month goes by without word from Bayou or the harness
I ordered. On the plus side, it made me get un-lazy, break out
my soldering iron and make my own. It's not as clean-looking as
what I got from Bayou in the past, but at least it's not invisible.

And it does work, so I now have a new bass to play!

Not sure if I'll ever really get my harness. If I do, I will
update this thread - and at the same time put it for sale
in the classifieds......
