For great cables talk to Mike at Norton cable. I know him personally and hes a great guy and very knowledgeable.

BTW, I had tried to reach someone at Norton Cable - like several times: three email messages, plus two voicemail messages. No one ever replied to my email. No one ever picked up the phone. No one ever returned my call. :rollno:

For anyone looking for an alternative to Bayou Cable - or to Norton Cable or Lava Cable, for that matter - I just found a new source. Company is named HAVE, Inc. They're located in Hudson, NY - north of NYC, between Woodstock & Albany:

Contact is John Earl, Manager/Pro Products Division

I just placed an order for several Redco 12-gauge speaker cables with metal-jacketed Speakon plugs. I haven't received them yet, so I can't attest as to the quality of the workmanship - but since it's a very easy job and I specified the components, I assume they'll be fine. Standard turnaround time appears to be 5-7 business days, and the price was even better than I got from Butch.

FWIW...

Yup, now celebrating six months of no harness, no contact, no nuttin'. I tried
to log a Paypal complaint, but of course it's been too long. I've been screwed
for larger amounts in the past, but I'd have to say that this really stinks coming
from someone like Butch.

One thing he has in common with another person stealing from TB'rs
is that his website remains open for "business" - I'll probably not be making any
further donations to his beer fund, however....................

Hey, almost forgot to mark my 1-year anniversary of getting ripped off by Butch!

Hello <me>,

You sent a payment of $35.45 USD to Bayou Audio Cables, Inc. ([email protected])

Why, feels like just yesterday!

Hey all...

I wanted to share my experience...placed an order for 2 instrument cables and got them in about 2 weeks. Nothing special or custom about my order. Standard cable length, etc, for one, and the other was an in-stock vintage cloth wrap cable.

Hopefully it's a sign that Butch is making progress with the business.

For the record, I did attempt once again to contact Butch, both via his website
(which remains open to take your dough of course) and via direct email reply
to his "Order Status" that I got when he first took my money. Result? Zip. Zero.
Zilch....at least so far. Of course, I will be happy to update this thread if that situation
were to change. Meanwhile, I'm still getting by on the (messy) harness I made for
myself out of some spare parts I had laying around....I really wanted better for this
project, however, which was why I shopped with Butch in the first place.

Well, I am pleased to report that I just received my harness from Butch. I'd
gotten an auto-notification that I had a package incoming; that notification
included a short blurb that he'd "lost my order when his database died". He
also sent me a handful of freebie velcro cable ties, which I think is a classy touch
(and by pure coinky-dink is something I was just thinking I needed to get!)

So, all's well that ends well I guess. The harness is excellent craftsmanship and
meets all my expectations to that regard....quality is the reason I ordered from Butch
in the first place!

my 2 cents worth:

I ordered a P-Bass/Darkstar harness with pots and some cables in a couple of different orders and always got them promptly and they were top notch. Granted, this was before he had to take a day job. I think he's probably had some challenges with the current economy like many of us have, but I personally object to the word "sleeze" (or sleaze :D) entering the dialog. I don't think he's sleezy or a bad guy.

Again, my experience, my 2 cents worth.

I respectfully disagree. Read the last few pages. At one point I defended the guy. He's done very little (or nothing) to stop customers from continuing to make orders they may not ever see. How is that not sleazy? It would take all of a few minutes to halt the ability to submit orders, and he clearly has no desire to do so.

Agree - his order fulfillment time has simply fallen off a cliff, and he's not communicating with the people who are waiting.

I have five-year old, heavily gigged cables from Butch that don't make a sound they aren't supposed to. But let's all understand that the guy is a hobbyist now.

Well, I was pretty adamant that I'd been ripped off, for sure.
Having made multiple attempts to contact him via his website and personal email with
no response whatsoever, I'm sure you can understand how I'd feel that way after 16
months, yes? I'll further admit noting here that it hurt worse coming from a member of this
community. It seems from other replies that I was not alone in my dilemma.

I'm sympathetic to any of his personal problems, and at any time he could
have simply refunded my money - but as noted, I am much happier having the
harness I needed, and I wanted to make sure that he got public recognition for having
made things right.....even if it did take nearly a *year and a half*

I've never had any problems at all with Bayou cables other than he does get backlogged at times. It's a one person shop with a lot of repeat customers, so that can happen. I ordered a few more last week and only had a four day turnaround.

If he did temporarily closed, I never noticed. I ordered cables from him quite a few years back and another time in the past and again just last week. Always top quality and the most I ever waited from order until receipt was maybe a couple weeks at most.

These are the best sounding cables I've ever used even compared to ones at twice the price. I highly recommend them to everyone I know. $25 for a hand soldered 10' Canare GS-6 cable with gold plated Neutrik connectors is a great price and he'll ship several for the same shipping fee.
