BB King RIP

I first seen BB King in 1970, at the Boston Tea Party. Paul Butterfield Band & J Giles Band opened.
BB was at the top of his game. He was the best. RIP.

I saw BB back in the '70's ... he was playing "The Thrill Is Gone", when he broke a string. BB looked over to the side of the stage, singing, "The string is gone ... the string is gone ..." 
His roadie came out and changed the string while BB carried on singing (still wearing the guitar), then the King played a blistering solo to cap things off. A true original and a true showman. One of the greats, beyond any doubt. His "Blues on Top of Blues", from the same era as that show, is one of my favorite albums (long out of print, last I looked, sadly).

Very sad day for blues (and music in general).... I was fortunate enough to see him live at the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival last summer. RIP Mr. King.....
His personality was as impressive as his playing. Very sad day! I ran out if my office when I saw buddy guy walking to his car and was able to confirm it was him shake his hand, wish I could have met BB and done the same.
Grateful to have met him and to have made some music with him. He was a nice man. May we all go laughing with the world crying for us to stay.

But his music lives on forever.
Saw him three times, got him to sign my copy of his autobiography and got a Lucille pin, too. 500 years from now they will still be listening to and studying his blues.

Never had the pleasure of seeing the master live.... But have seen him play 1000s of times.

He's earned his rest for sure. That man's vocabulary didn't contain the words "quit" or "lazy". Always missed the chance to see him live.
B. B. has departed this venue to jam with the other departed Blues greats at that great Blues gig in the sky; don't forget to bring Lucille along. She would be terribly lonely without your fingers caressing her long slender neck.
I hope his headstone will be inscribed with his usual introduction...
