On todays episode of "What was i thinking?" I radius sanded six necks, three fretless and three fretted. Like i've said before, who needs the gym when you're a luthier!

OMG! Radius sanding the fretboard was probably the most exhausting thing I have done on my build to date. and that was just ONE!
I do NOT plan on doing that by hand EVER again! There's GOT to be a better way!

Radius router jig. Then you only have to take a little off to smooth it with the sanding block. My super weak wrists don't like sanding in a radius. Thankfully I only do that on boards with full blocks that might tear to shreds under a router. Which is like half the boards I make.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking. I plan on making a radius jig at some point, maybe this weekend, we'll see.
I've got a new computer coming, and depending on arrival timing we may or may not be "going camping" this weekend. "Going camping" meaning "heading to my boss's house where I can camp next to the giant wood shop again".
I have a few projects I could work on while there. A radius jig, a flattening jig, I've got a couple burger serving platters I wanna make (basically a rectangular cutting board), maybe start on that second build I've had that neck blank done for half a year now. Honestly, a lot of this stuff I could do at home now. But when you have access to a really fancy high end cabinet table saw, you use it! I've had one full sheet of 3/4 MDF sitting there for about a year now, just waiting. My original plan had been to use it to make a body template for that next build.
I dunno, we'll see.
The computer says it'll arrive "between the 27th and 1st" which means if it isn't here by the 27th, we stay home. I'm not leaving a $4,000 computer on my porch for one second longer than it needs to be.

Anyways, sorry for the thread hijack, @rick0link. Back to your radius sanding!

Here's a short scale lefty that became one piece this morning.

This one, dubbed "Clint," came to life this morning. It's future owner said he wants the tone of the bass to resemble a scowl. Clint Eastwood immediately came to mind.

My client wanted this bass to have a tone similar to a scowl, so we named it Clint. Clint has a walnut body, padauk neck, and a birdseye maple fretboard. A pair of Bartolini BB4C humbuckers and a passive tone circuit provide that nasty scowl.

Looks awesome! Whenever I'm able to pull the trigger on my future Beardly build, I also plan for a cutting board.

Sounds like a plan! No go on the rolling pin though, i don't have a lathe to make one.
