Just black in the "gap" area where the white body is showing through. Black fingernail polish or Sharpie... it'll look like this:

I like them both. Tort on white looks good, especially aged white, but I like mint too because it's not seen as often and it has a surf vibe to it. Too bad they aren't designed to popped in and out on a whim.

I really liked the mint when I bought it but when I bought my Sadowsky white with tort my jazz just looked a little anaemic, no "pop".

Reomove control panel, Get some chopsticks, whittle them to a point, tap them in the holes with some wood glue.
When they dry, move that plate tight to the pickguard, redrill the holes, and the gap will be gone.
A faster fix would be to put some black tape under the pickgaurd where the gap is and it will be very hard to notice.

I like both. I love having multiple pickguards for my basses. Switch once per year for a new bass.

Major improvement; if you fix the gap it actually looks like the tort will line up better than the original. Much classier.

Alright, I gotta ask...what is the pickguard vendor of choice these days? I'm not really into spending $40 for my slice of tortloaf, but I've got an unlined fretless arctic white jazz and it's begging for a red or brown tort. If anyone would like to recommend a source I would appreciate it.

Note: First user to propose non-sequitor purchase of either a Fender Rumble or Mesa D-800 will get taken out back and beaten with a hose.

I'm not overly ocd but that gap would bother me big time. I do like the look of the tort better. Don't like tort on many basses at all but it works well on that bass. The mint green is just wrong.

I have that same gap on a parts J I did - black PG and control plate on a dark grey body. I think I'll do the sharpie thing (or something black anyway) on it as some have suggested. It's always kind of bugged me but I don't gig that bass so I've just let it go.

But the tort on the white body combo... I like it! I just got my first five string P not long ago with that same scheme. Still waiting on the wonderful, mystical powers of tort to improve my playing though. And waiting. And waiting...

Tort makes everything better . As said, loosen the 3 screws and see if you can slide the plate up. You might have to not snug them up 100% for a good fit. Failing that, you can plug the existing holes and redrill new ones.

I agree! White/rosewood/mint is the best combo from the new series. It's both classic and unique. To each his own and the only opinion that matters is that of the owner. But I think Fender got that bass right when they built it..
