Behringer Bass V-AMP Pro - Part II: Get On Back, Jack, Do It Again...

Thanks, I've read the manual so many times and I never noticed that TAP function! I will try it ASAP.
About the midi channel, does it make a difference to the V-amp app which one I choose?
It really only matters if you are using other equipment as well. Your foot controller will need to be programmed as to what MIDI channel it is sending commands to. I believe the Editor software will scan all MIDI channels.
For instance, I have my SansAmp on MIDI Channel 1, and my V-Amp on MIDI Channel 2. An interesting issue is that i cannot connect to either my Bass V-Amp Pro OR my V-Amp Pro with the Editor software if there is any other MIDI device plugged in. So I connect these devices up to my foot controller most of the time, and when I want to do something from the Editor software, I have to disconnect the foot controller, and in the case of my bass rack also disconnect my SansAmp.
Not a huge deal, but a bit of a pain.

The L3 setting doesn't have the cab simulation. I don't know. This may be key to tame the RAT simulation a bit.
What amp are you using. And for cab(s)?
Ahhh, good question Six. I don't recall what hoops I had to jump through, but I do know it was pretty straightforward. Of course, since I have Presonus FirePods hooked to the same PC, I already had ASIO drivers setup... I think I just plugged into the MIDI port, launched the software, and BAM! there it was. Lol

I dont think ASIO drivers are in any way related to MIDI, they only work for raw audio lag-less recording/playback
EDIT: tried the TAP/thru thing and nothing changed, the software still doesnt communicate with the V-AMP
i use this setting for my distortion. The selection is the tap button setting, not the standard...I use the vamp thru a rackmixer so i can blend in any amount of dry i need, but this setting seems to give me the distortion grind i like to hear and set it into a preset:

I just got my Vamp Pro and am reasonably impressed with my initial first tweak. I was about to play Frisbee with it until I realized that it doesn't select cab enclosures in S3 mode. Rage, then calm.

I'm in Europe so ordering an EPROM from overseas is kind of expensive for me ATM and only justifiable if it's guaranteed to solve my problem.
So I'll have to be a deuche and wait for someone else to try it first

i dont think i payed too much,even with postage,ithink 20 gbp,but now im not too sure wether i even need it,but im lookin into it a bit deeper..i think its to do with what number is on the IC,and of course opening it up to look(AND then its supposed to be under glue) could invalidate warrant....
as for the editor,i dont believe its even possible!!! at least thats what im telling myself.anyway!i cant see how something that in theory,shoud be EASY,is unnexplainable
or wont work-IS the EPROM the weak link ??Id like to see an 'idiot' list by someone who can 'step 1..step 2.. etc,that would be cool;

I think it's just weak programming from Behringer, the app may not be prepared for Windows Vista/7 at all.
Or maybe just something wrong/incompatible with our midi interfaces.

It is easy for a driver install to get messed up in Windows. Often, you can clear up a USB problem by plugging the USB cable into a different USB port. In my setup, I have bot the in and out of the cheap-butt usb-midi cable plugged into the V-Amp. The old V-Amp software sees the cheap-butt midi cable and the V-Amp and all has been well for a couple years now.

I'm gonna root out the BEGINING of Caeman Chadds posts,as he knows this kit like noone,in fact he put me onto it in the first place.don't give up trying all links you can think of,and I'm pleased that Caemans watchin...and above all:let not the science take away the sheer class and possibilities this kit offers...we supposed to do it,shoulldnt turn it into a chore: maybe if it aint broke.....?!!

I'm not giving up on the V-Amp anyday soon, I've had a pod Bass V-amp for years and now got the Pro, I know intuitively how to program it and dial my sounds.
