Behringer Bass V-AMP Pro - Part II: Get On Back, Jack, Do It Again...

Hi Charlie. I've been trying to get a V-Amp Pro for about a month now. Every Behringer dealer I've contacted has told me that it was discontinued about a month ago (2 months ago now), but apparently the bass version is still going, for now anyway.

I also checked the website, and when I told the dealers this, they said that their info is also from Behringer and the website is probably just not updated yet. Since I can't even find one on eBay, I'm gessing that it is really discontinued, so I've ended up ordering the bass version (which by the way, I have only found one dealer with stock).

The thing is, that if the only difference is the cosmetics and eprom, then I'll buy a second unit (before they disappear too) and swap in a guitar eprom. This is what I'm trying to find out, but so far no luck.

In regards to Behringer as a company, my big beef with them is that they don't publish a direct email address for any type of enquiry. Their website says one thing, the dealers say another, and they don't allow people to email for confirmation? That's poor form for any business.

Thanks for the info, but I don't buy second hand music gear any more, especially if I can't check it out first.

Quickly going off topic for a second, this is for the Aussies out there that use eBay and similar sites. The new consumer laws provide full consumer protection for non auction items. This means that (using eBay as an example), you have the same rights for "Buy It Now" items as if you had bought the item in a shop. Previously, all items on auction sites were considered as "auction" items with no consumer protection. These new laws are definately a step in the right direction, and online shoppers should be aware of them.

Now I understand, LOL!

As far as EPROM combatibility between units, I do not know if this is possible, but please keep us posted should that be a success

Regarding Behringer's response time, I have had surprisingly good results reaching them through their Facebook page

Cheers!

It's Official - Direct From Behringers Facebook page:

Question from me:
Behringer - can you please advise whether or not the V-Amp Pro has been discontinued. Australian dealers are saying that it has been discontinued, but your website lists it as still being current. If it is discontinued, will there be a new model to replace it, and if so when? Thank you.

Behringer's reply:
BEHRINGER Hi Peter! Sorry about the confusion. The V-AMP PRO is on our website while dealers sell their remaining stock. We will let our IA team know that there is demand for an updated version. Take care -JB

In short, YES - THE V-AMP PRO HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED.

I'm now trying to find out about the eprom swap.

Are they discontinuing the Bass version as well? Or only the guitar version?

I have had mine for several years and love the sound. I had packed away my bass gear, due to not having time to play, for several years and just got it back out. Works perfectly, wish I could say the same for my power amp, LOL.

I was using a Samson Servo 550, but alas it didn't fare well in the storage. So now I am trying to decide on a replacement amp. Budget is of course a huge concern, since I am not working at the moment, hence the time to play again, LOL.

Anyway, glad I found this thread and thanks to everyone especially Charlie for the tips on tweaking it. Now I can get even more versatility out of it.

This just tells me that I need to keep a $50 bill aside and keep an eye on CL for a second one.
+1..me 2 but i'll keep the 10 bucks for a couple beers while I'm setting presets...lol ;)
