Ever have one of those days where you just want to play through something new? Well, spin the knob!

To those disbelievers, these simulations are not simply the same sound with a different EQ on them. These tones truly have a totally different feel + sound quality that resemble the selected amplifier!

Welcome to the world of amp modeling and be sure to give each model a fair shot at becoming your favorite.

Even if the V-AMP offered you just one tone, it would be a bargain for all it accomplishes as a preamp, but to offer more than one fundamental amp tone is insane at its current retail price.

My favorites include the SVT, Fender Bassman, Gallien-Krueger + Marshall Super Bass.

Under a microscope, the simulations are really quite good, but in a live setting, just watch as other bass players wonder, "What the hell is that glowing red tone monster in your bass rig?" :-)

Edit: Give all the models a listen @ Behringer Bass V-AMP Pro

To those of you who own the Bass V-AMP Pro, what are your favorite amp models?

Under the scenario described, your laptop is playing recorded samples from my web page through your amp and speakers. Even though sound is coming out, and you seem very excited about that sound, this is not the sound that you should expect to receive once you plug your bass into a V-AMP and then amplify it.

Best advice: try a V-AMP with your own bass/amp/speakers and return it for a full refund if not completely satisfied.

Cheers!

I wouldn't say I'm nuts. I am a tech geek and I a big fan of modern, solid-state music equipment...what I call "moving with the times".

RIGHT ON BROTHER!!!! not everyone can afford and high dollar tube amp!!! and after my RIC. Marshall Stack and all my peddles was stolen out of my garage 2 years ago that I had for ....I dont know how many yrs.!!! Solid state is all I can afford at this point in life... Behringer BVT5500h head and a Behringer B410 cab and a ESP LTD. F-4e bass....totaly happy with what i have ...the V-AMP -Pro will only give me back some of the fat sound I am missing!!

Sorry to say, it just doesn't work that way. It's a bit more complicated.

My recordings are pre-colored for listening on full-range audio equipment and they are again re-colored when you put them through your bass cabinet.

Additonally, you can't expect my bass there to sound like yours will, etc.

Hang in there, Tony!

ok ......A little dis hearting....but I still want one....so are you telling me that I need to really run this thru my pc and my full range pro speakers to get the most out of it?....cause if thats what I need to do than I will.........we play for fun and thats all!!! I belive I have everything that you say I should need....you sold me on this along with everybody else and I just want one now!!!

You should be able to get very close to the tones on my web page recordings with a V-AMP. You can connect the V-AMP to a power amp with cabinets, a combo amp, a mixer, PA system, computer, etc. and get similar results.

... if not, then return it! :-)

You weren't wasting anyone's time. We're here to help. :)

Tony, I think I got what you're asking, and the simplest way of answering would be that the guitar, amp and cab you're using are going to add their own color and flavor to the sound, just like they normally would. If you're just using a power amp with no adjustments, it's going to be closer to the pure sound the V-Amp creates, but your speaker cab is going to determine how that signal reaches the ear. A 10" woofer isn't going to replicate the same as a 15", after all, and each speaker is different. But the basic concept of the sound is going to be close.

The cab sims are really more for recording I think, replicating the sound produced by those cabinets without actually having to have them in the room. Which is cool, since bass frequencies aren't picked up good mic'd anyway, and you don't have to be blasting ears out getting the tone you're used to pumping out of an 8x10 stack or something. But on the recording, you'll still have that huge sound, and not sound like you're playing through a practice amp.

But, you don't want to sound like someone else's sound anyway... you want to sound like YOUR sound. So, don't get hung up on being exactly like something else. I run through a Carvin BX1200 poweramp, which I set to a sound I like bypassing the V-Amp as my starting point. Then from there I create patches that tweak the tone even further. Another nice thing about that is, if for whatever reason the V-Amp did stop working, I've still got a great tone.

There's absolutely NO reason to not love the V-Amp. Other than the manual, of course. But, since there's all the tips here how to get around that, I'm confident you'll be plenty satisfied with what it can do.

Me, I'm looking forward to the usb2midi cable that should be here tomorrow, and start playing with the virtual settings program for both it and the fcb1010....

thanks Cannonball....and all for putting up with " My not really getting it" I guess....sometimes i'm so focused on the point ....that I dont look outside the box and listen to what is really being said.....been looking at the vamp for a whole month and it looks like the way to save alot of money on pedels and just trying to get back into playing like we use to...and that this looked like the way to go...guess I need to do more thinking.....once again guys ..thank you peace brothers ...tony

No, what you're thinking is spot on. Especially if you combine the v-amp with a midi foot controller. The fcb1010 is specifically made to match up, but any will work. I just got the fcb, so I'm still a newbie at it, but just the default setting lets you easily stomp through 100 patches. So, just set them up just like you would a pedal board, have one to add compression, one for overdrive, chorus, etc. Whatever sounds you want. It's got 2 expression pedals too, so yeah, it'll totally save you having to buy a bunch of pedals. To really make it replace foot pedals though, you pretty much have to have a foot controller of some kind, if you want to change tones while playing at least. If you just switch between songs when your hands are free, then you don't need a foot controller though.

Having a FCB1010 and a foot controller is basically like having two pedal boards though, right? :hmm:

Edit: Although with a FBV2 that wouldn't be so bad. But that only has two buttons.
