Behringer BSY600 love thread

I thought people who spent this kind of money on a distortion pedal were nuts. I'm in love with the MWBD and it hasn't even arrived yet.

The MWBD pro is worth it, for a different taste in distortion and the eq is a big bonus. Still the BSY600 is worth it for the cost along with the MWBD.

....................................................................................

I actually got BSY600 to have a play instead of the boss version.

BSY600 -> Battering Ram -> BEF pro

the BSY600 and Battering Ram sounds really great especially with the Octave on. Then add the BEF pro with a hot hand... freaking awesome dubsteppin magic. :hyper:

Update on my BSY 600- I posted in another thread that mine had a bad switch. It wouldn't turn off easily. I was going to attempt to rehouse, or at least replace the switch. Well for some reason it's working fine now. I have no idea why. But if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Just thought I would share this with everyone. Maybe Behringer's quality isn't THAT bad.

By the way, this pedal sounds awesome.

You guys have intrigued me... especially after I posted a "best of" list recently and this pedal was on it.

Do it, the pedal itself can be bought new for £40 and I saw one sell used for £30, so it is hardly a loss. I only use it for 1 song with my band and even made my own expression pedal for it, but I am still going to keep it.

I use setting 1 with an exp pedal as I only need a lightish synth not a heavy octave electronica type synth.

Outside of my band my favorite setting is 3.

I'm guessing that isn't feasible because the guts are probably controls mounted on PCBs and the holes wouldn't match up. I'm assuming that 'rehouse' means to drill one's own project box to enclose it and solder in a heavy-duty stomp switch.

Took my BSY600 apart today to start rehousing it. Seems like a Hammond 1550B is the right size, however I will need to trim the corners of the PCB board to get it to fit.

Now the interesting thing I noticed is that there is a component left off the board by the company, it is marked 'X1' on the PCB; would anyone have any idea what it could be? Since it has 5 pre-drilled holes I was thinking it could be a midi input. Why leave it off, that would have made that pedal even better than the Boss SYB-5 that it is emulating.

@Dasonbass
The X1 connector is not for MIDI. It is used for programming the two chips making all the sounds.

You can not you the current version of the HotHand with the BSY600 directly. If you have the HH to Midi pedal or one of the old pedals (Phaser or Wah) those pedals have an expression out, that is controllable by the HH. Rumor has it that Source Audio is working on a new HH though with 3-axis and with expression out.

I think the old Phaser/Flanger and Wah still are in stock in some places (here ex: Link Removed).
Or you could try to find a used one of those MIDI ones. If you have some electronics skills it should be possible to make a HH to BSY600 adapter, but it will require some active electronics.

EH i dont have those skills, so i guess my only choices are to either grab an expression pedal or wait for source audio to make that new hot hand?

Or are you saying the old wah pedal's expression output could be used to control the behringer with HH?

Yes that is what I am saying :)
From the Phaser/Flanger manual:
"The EXPRESSION OUT allows you to take the final
effect modulation signal and use it to control other effects boxes that have an
Expression Input feature."
