Behringer BSY600 love thread

ZOMBIE THREAD!

Just got the BSY 600 and I would like more info on the settings people are using. I'm certainly finding sounds I like in it, but I would like more guidance. Also, I'm a little lost with using the expression pedal. I have a Moog EP-2 and the sweeps just don't sound right; there is a lot of unused action it seems.

I've seen that before in a few threads. It's NICE. If I had the money to blow on etching it would be at the top of my list. I have some etching ideas that I would love to implement too...one day.

I can't remember from PYPB, are you using an expression pedal with it, and if so, which one? Like I said, I'm trying the Moog EP-2. It's a 50K pot (I think), just like the 50K pot on the recommended Behringer expression pedal. However, it seems to hit maximum well before it's fully depressed. I have yet to try my 25k EP Junior (which is currently dedicated to my Pitchfactor).

Looking forward to your settings!

I use a Boss FV-500H as an expression pedal and its perfect. BUT! It does seem to limit the sweep (it doesn't give me the full top range but the bottom range is exact (LFO mode only). In the other modes it seems fine. I have it on a TRS switcher so it literally becomes two completely new pedals with it!

What TRS switcher do you have? I could really use one. Basically I need an Expressionator, but I can live without all the features and presets if I can get it at a fraction of the cost.

As you can see I love this pedal and am always finding new sounds with it! I keep a folder with me where I have made templates for all my pedals (if there happens to be no pre made ones)

Another zombie bump. I'm finally learning my way around this pedal. However, I am still unhappy with the expression capabilities in combination with my EP-2. I basically don't hear the "sweep." With the knob on my EP-2 fully "open" (as I understand it), it sounds like basically one setting when heel down, and then a second setting at 50% toe forward. I don't hear much, if any, intermediate settings (LFO rate, etc.) at any positions between the two. Then beyond 50% toe forward is also pretty useless, as I've found is the case for my EP-2 with other systems (Eventide and M5)---essentially, it seems maxed out at 50% forward. When I mess with the knob, I can get the direction of the sweep reversed, but it's still only two values that I hear, with lots of unused action.

The question I'm most curious about is it this is how it's supposed to be? Should I be hearing intermediate values? I'm wondering if something like the Roland EV-5 would give me a better sweep? My Ernie Ball VP Jr. 25k doesn't seem to work at all; I've read that this is perhaps a polarity issue.

When I got my BSY-600 I also picked up a Behringer expression/volume pedal, and I had the same problem, it was either full on or full off. On top of that the thing used 12V instead of 9, so I returned it and got a Yamaha expression pedal instead, which needs no power input. It works way better, I now get the full sweep.

Interesting. The Moog EP-2 is so highly thought of, I don't know why it wouldn't work here. I can actually see the sweep with my Pitchfactor and M5 (not just "on/off"), there is just still too much unused action. The EP-2 has a higher pot value than those recommend (50k vs. 25k, so I understand).

Which Yamaha are you using?

I use a Boss FV-500H and have used a Roland EV-5 with no issues. Love this pedal both fun and practical

And you get a full sweep instead of just an "on/off switch"? I've had an opportunity to pick up an EV-5. Seriously considering it.

Yamaha FC-7.

I think the Behringer pedal I got was defective. The volume pedal function didn't work right, either.

Hmm. Well I don't think my Moog EP-2 is defective, based on how it works with other units, but it functions exactly as you described, as an "on/off."
