Behringer BSY600 love thread

I found a Yamaha FC-7 for cheap. I'm not crazy about the large footprint but I love how it feels and the sweep actually does what I think it should!

So for future people with this question:

EB VP Jr. 25k: doesn't work at all
Moog EP-2: works poorly
Yamaha FC-7: works great!

I have just purchased a BSY600 and although I am loving the sounds that this pedal can produce and looking forward to experimenting with its sonic possibilities, I am having an issue which I am hoping that someone here can help me out with.

The pedal doesn't seem to detect softer notes of the bass at all and only becomes active when harder notes are played but will abruptly cut off as the note decays. Has anyone else had this problem with their pedal or is mine defective?

The BSY-600 likes above clean full volume signal: I use 2 basses both with passive pups and have to crank the volume to get it working how I want it. I've even run a slight boost in front of it before but now have learned to play it better.

It seems to me some synth pedals need a minimum amount of signal to work, and when the signal decays below that level they cut off.

My Digitech Bass Synth Wah does this as well. No matter how I set my bass volume knob, the pedal's output is either all on or all off. If there is a sweep trigger effect, though, that can be controlled by a lower or higher level from the bass.

Just want to say that I have one, and I love it. The saw wave sounds delightfully chiptune-ish with a slow attack and a pitch shift on the effect. The BSY600 was made to mate with other pedals. Now for a chorus. I like the pedal's modulation setting, but I want a less pulsating sound.

I just snagged one of these about a week ago. It's cheaply made and glitchy, but if you can get past that it's a very cool pedal.

The split signal feature makes it a perfect candidate for a parallel effects setup. Running the clean output into an octave pedal and then recombining the clean and effected signals makes for a really full, fat synthy sound. Adding various other effects to either loop makes the world your oyster. I'm running the effected sound of the BSY600 into an Adrenalinn III Multieffects pedal, which allows me to add modulation/delay/filters/general wackiness to the initial sound. I have a few other goodies in the loop with the octave pedal (MXR Bass Octave) as well that gives me a ton of different sounds.

You need a good strong signal into the Behringer to help prevent the glitchiness...I also found that recombining my parallel loops into a TC Electronic Nova Dynamics was helpful; I set the first channel as a multiband compressor to level everything out and the second as a noise gate that helps to tame the quieter glitches.

If you're a player who needs a stable synth sound for a good portion of the night, this pedal isn't for you. If you're hard on your gear and/or don't want to spend some time adjusting your technique and digging into the capabilities of a pedal this one is also not for you. For $50 and a little bit of work, you can coax some serious sounds out of this little box. Just be ready to buy more, as it'll probably eventually fail and you're probably going to get addicted to this cool little box.

I have fun with mine, was the right price.

Use this setting with an expression pedal for a great WHOMP WOBBLE
that gets me as close to dubstep as $50 possibly could:

Have had a hard time finding a good sound that fits in a mix without an expression pedal though, I think that really opens up the pedals possibilities

Hey, I got a BSY600 pretty much as a joke, but it found it's way on more than one song in my current band (a drums/bass noise-rock outfit). Of course I am suffering from the switch general wonkiness as it doesn't turn off easy. Sometimes at all... I wonder what will be the cure for this, changing it with a regular metal clicky switch (sorry for the weird choice of words) like the one I have on my EHX Bass Big Muff for example. I am not very good with electronics and probably will get someone do it for me, but I wonder if this route will make the hold fun too unusable. I'd take some advice. Rehousing might be an option too as I seem to be a heavy stomper.

I ended up putting mine in a single bypass looper.

This is what I have:
Loop Pedal Switchers - - 1 Looper (Micro, LED Version) - Loop-Master Pedals

When it's off, your signal chain just goes from "input to output." But when it's on it goes input-send-whatever you have connected in the middle-return-output. So you can leave the BSY600 on the whole time and operate it from this. Works very well, takes up a lot of space though, in addition to the additional power and cabling requirements.
