Behringer BSY600 love thread

Yes that is what I am saying :)
From the Phaser/Flanger manual:
"The EXPRESSION OUT allows you to take the final
effect modulation signal and use it to control other effects boxes that have an
Expression Input feature."

ok thanks it seems amazon has it for 250, that includes the hot hand i imagine.

my main concern is that the wah filter and phaser/flanger hot hand arent meant for bass though

I don't have either, so I can't make any comment on that pedal in particular.
I do have the Tri-mod Phaser. Sounds so-so with bass. It is not bad, but I don't think I would've bought it new (got mine used quite cheap). As far as I can see the tri-mod phaser effects #1-7 are identical to the phaser/flanger's phaser sounds. The sounds on the wha semes to be identical to the ones on the tri-mod wah. There is a video with that one on bass.

Work in progress... actually I got careless and drilled the holes a few millimeters to low so am going to get a new box. Live and learn.

Removing the 1/4'' jacks was a mission though, guess I needed a hotter soldering iron.

I will keep this thread posted to the results, and pitfalls.

You should make a thread about it detailing the steps. I for one would be very interested. I hate how unreliable the foot switch is.

Will keep it in mind then... and start taking pictures of my progress.

Glad this is not an expensive pedal to buy new so that experimenting like this can be done. However, due to the jacks being attached to the PCB board I would not put this as a good beginner project. Unless someone wants to chip in some de-soldering advice.

Looking forward to this.

Q: why does the jack need to be removed? Can a lead just be soldered off of them leading to another jack point?

Have you tried using a solder sucker? Melt some of the solder then use that to take it away from the joint, a few drops at a time if necessary.

The size of the box is the same width as the PCB board and the jacks stick out over the edge of the board. Therefore, the jacks need to be removed to get the board in. You could reuse the jacks and reatach them to the board after but I want to move them to a different place.

I did use a solder sucker but it still required a lot of time.

My BSY600 arrived yesterday. I've got to say that it sounds great. I was surprised to find that it has trouble tracking below low D and will jump up an octave if you let it hang on low E. Other than those 2 things, I find that it will get a lot of use. I'm still not going to take my SYB-5 off my board though. It's nice to now have two options for sounds without having to change settings though.

Is anyone else having those issues with it?

I like Behringer more and more. I think they are using Boss as more of a model and doing little touch ups to things people didn't like about the Boss pedals.

I have a Boss LMB and it's Behringer "clone". Both are nice, but the Behringer has less of a "click" when limiting hard peaks.

Behringer should put out some sort of sturdy metal enclosure/ pots DIY upgrade package. I'd buy a lot more of their stuff if it was cheap to start and had an rehousing option later.

(Sorry about not being focused on the BSY600, but this just seems like a common theme among their pedals.)
