Yup. Couldn't agree more. I'm on the Behringer X-Air forum, also. Sort of slow going over there in terms of numbers of users posting, but there is some good info. I think that more users/potential users are reached on forums like this and others. The Behringer forum is really clunky IMO, but hey, at least the major players in the company are visible there. It's always good thing when ownership and management put themselves out there to interact with customers.

RoadRanger, could you do me a favor and try this with your X-Air? (I posted this on the Behringer forum, but no responses yet)

- insert a Tube Stage processor on your bass input channel, and listen to see what happens to the sound as it fades on a sustained note. I hear a very loud "click click click click" on this processor and the Combinator. This only seems to happen on a couple of FX/processors, and I'm not sure if it's just me or if it is a known bug in the firmware, or something else. I really like the Tube Stage for fattening up the bass, so it's a shame that (at the moment) it's making this ticking sound. It's not noticeable when playing more staccato notes of lesser duration. Thanks in advance if you can check it out.

All good. Someone on the Behringer Forum confirmed the weird ticking noise and Behringer has acknowledged it and will rectify with a future f/w update, undisclosed time frame as they work out other bugs and feature considerations. Nice. Good for them for listening.

Hi, Sean, good to see you here. I know Joe Sanborn from a very early shoot-out he attended that was held in Jackson, MS. At the time, they asked me, coming from a house of PM5Ds, M7CLs, and CL5s, to be the un-interested hands-on FOH tech to run the consoles for the attendees to listen to and make comparisons. As un-interested as I was at the time, it took only about 30 minutes to see that this mixer was gonna be quite a hit. Two years ago, I quit pro audio and started playing bass again and just recently, bought my own for self-contained band duty.

I hope the mods are okay with this sort of participation by a manufacturer, but I don't know and I guess we'll find out shortly. As for the XR18, I just had to have 32 onboard inputs, so I went with the good ol' X32. But I've enjoyed reading about the XR18's upcoming release and look forward to the users around here talking about it.

Recent beta firmware update to the XR18 and X-Air Edit for PC was released over the weekend. Mostly bug fixes and not new features...still beta, but progressing. I haven't confirmed yet, but I believe the "tick tick tick" noise in the Tube Stage processor has been fixed. :thumbsup:

And yes, jimfist is correct - several updates over the weekend, available over at our subforum for the XR18 at forum.music-group.com/behringer under the Digital Mixers heading, and should also be available under the Downloads tab on the XR18's page on our website, BEHRINGER: Home These updates include a new firmware for the XR18 as well.

I just used the xr18 for recording a few songs at our last rehearsal, individual tracks then mixed in reaper with only the included plugins. This is a pretty rough mix. I used EQ, compression, a couple delays and some reverb, but no editing or volume automation. All the mistakes are left in -- we've got our first gig coming up in seven weeks and need to find where our mistakes are!

We only got a couple songs as the computer kept going into sleep mode, which I have since fixed. I was really impressed with the stability. I have a brand new quad core laptop but its not super powerful or expensive, and it recorded I think 15 tracks at 48khz without any of the clicks or pops I used to get with my old asio drivers for other devices. I have not compared the sound quality to anything else, but I love recording gigs and this seems to work very well at that.

Official X-Air Edit has dropped, as well as firmware 1.09 for the XR18. Check out the Behringer product page under "Downloads" to get these files. They've now go full implementation of DCA and MUTE groups and some other goodies.

It's full steam ahead for me now, but I'm looking to upgrade to a Tablet Win PC (surface or similar). Any suggestions? I'd like a healthy amount of screen touch surface to help me make accurate mix moves on-the-fly while mixing from the stage. iPad and android are just too small to move fast enough...at least for me, in the head of a performance.

BTW, the PC software is an .exe executable file, so anyone who is curious about the interface and features of the XR18 can simply download it and give it a spin.

Sounds good. Yeah I am pretty impressed with the recording capabilities. I do sound for my wife and stepsons band, Last Saturday we did a first time run through with the XR so I could be prepared for a gig we have tomorrow. I recorded a little. 6 year old Asus lappy with a Core 2 Duo, 11 tracks with out a hiccup. Dear oriah86,

The X AIR Mixers are designed to be a stand-alone unit that you can place anywhere you need and be controlled remotely in the venue, eliminating the need for a snake. That said, the X AIR Mixers are not able to be chained together as you asked. If you want more channels with similar functionality of the X Air mixers I would suggest looking into an X32 Rack or even an X32 Core.

I understand this thread is for the XR18, but has anyone seen an XR16 in the wild. I see them on MF and Sweetwater, but always with a preorder tag, and an availability date that seems to keep moving out.

thoughts ? (other than advice that I should just get the XR18 ;))
