I really appreciate your input, Ken. I've been planning on a PJB rig for home and as a backup to my LMII/HT112 gig rig, but now I'm thinking of an F500/AE212 rig as my gig rig and retiring the LMII/HT112 rig as my home/practice rig. I'll have to see what the weight difference between the 2 rigs will be. The very similar footprint is encouraging...and if I can get a bigger/better sound all the better. Having a 2nd driver closer to my ear should help keep the volume under control for my small scale jobs.

Bergantino AE212 - Just Released

The LMII kills with the AE212, so unless you want it quite tight and a bit brighter, the LMII would probably work very nicely for you. The footprint of the AE212 is the same as the AE112, but I believe it is a touch bigger than the older HT112's... can't remember the dimensions of those. It will kill.
I believe the 'formula' most use with the PJB stuff is that it would take approximately 6 of the little drivers to match the output of a single 112 (4 for a 110), so you would need two of the 6 driver neo cabs to roughly match the output of the AE212, and probably more power (impedance also gets a little wonky on the PJB stuff), since the PJB stuff is relatively low SPL.
I actually did get a chance to play a Shuttle 6.0 and 9.0 at the shop before I brought the cab home. Both amps sounded great with the AE212.
I have actually noticed some of the "opening up" in the cab that you noticed too. I have had a few hours of playing time with it. A lot of it at higher volumes and it has definitely opened up.
+1 I typically don't hear this at all, but man, did the AE212 smooth out and extend lower after 4 or 5 hours of playing (or even less). I guess every driver design and spec (especially the custom OEM stuff) has different surround designs, etc., and can be differentially impacted by that 'loosening up' process over time. For most cabs, the impact is very minor.
I was actually talking to Jim Bergantino yesterday about my AE112. And he brought up the AE212. He recommended sitting the AE112 as the "bottom of stack" cabinet and using the interlocking intentions on the top of the cab to lock the AE212 in place. I had already actually experimented with it. Even though it sits quite high, it is still quite stable and it sounds killer! Louder than I would EVER need.
That's a cool idea, and if you have a head that can safely operate at 2.67 ohms, that would be a killer stack.
I just did another sound clip with the AE-212. I used my fretted Roscoe again, but this time the head was the Genz-Benz Shuttle 9.0. The clip is more focused on demo-ing the pedals on my board, but it'll still let you hear this glorious new cab again, too...

^^ Oh, and if this is the first clip with a Shuttle head involved, let me just add that it's a great sounding combination. The AE212 really mates well with the Shuttle 9.0. Two thumbs up from me on that!!

Sounds great! That cab and head did a great job reproducing the octave down and the grind and grizz and grunch and splank and spoint of all those pedals

I hear ya! I played 20+ years with nary a pedal... but as soon as I bought my first one (which strangely enough coincided with me becoming the owner of a music store), I owned 8-10 pedals within 2-3 months.
I should play pusher and tell you the first one is free. I know you'd be back for more
But the last thing I want to do is derail this thread with talk of pedals. I really did just want ya'll to hear another AE212 clip, this time with a Shuttle head!

Yes that was a great demo. The same thing happened to me, I bought an old Akai synth pedal to see if I could get a resonable bass synth k-board thing and lo and behold pedals started appearing all over my music room.
I liked the P&C and that was one of the best demos I've heard with that box. And that BassIQ really brought the funk!
Anyway the Shuttle sounded great with the ae212.
This kinda cinches it for me. I was thinking that my old LMII doesn't have a purpose with me any longer but maybe with the ae212 it might be cool to hang onto.
