Congrats! If you like it with the 3.0, you're gonna drop a load when you hook that Shuttle 9.0 up to it. I just can't get over how good this combo sounds, and the 9.0 can give the Berg more power than it wants. It's just terrific sounding. I've been banging on it off and on all day today, trying different EQ things just for fun. It's so cliche to say this around here, but my neighbors are really going to hate me if I don't quit.

Anyway got the boxed up AE212 in the back of my Mini Cooper S by folding down both seats with ease. Then before I ever plugged it in I unboxed and made sure it fit with one seat folded down and it does!!! Kudo's to Bergantino for exposing the handles with the cover on. It really helps slide the cabinet in and out easier.

I've got a Shuttle 9.0 on the way but I did plug it into my Shuttle 3.0 and even without it being broken in (I am very familiar with the massive difference a few hours play time makes from my hi-fi interests) it so far is exactly what I have hoped for. My favorite rig in recent years has been GASP! and SWR Redhead but this thing with the GB head will probably eclipse that, save a good 30 lbs and get a hell of a lot louder!

Anyway I'm looking forward to hearing it with the more powerful head but my little Shuttle 3.0 at 300 watts was quite a voice to be heard. Both my P bass and Stingray really sing and I've not been super happy with my P-bass recently but I can tell it will be getting another chance with this set up.

So Juan is back in Sac? Cool!

I was going to buy mine from Greg at Rocket Music since he is a regular contributor on TB. But my timeframe was really tight due to my work/travel. So I bought mine from Juan and he was able to get the 212 to me almost over night. Juan was great to deal with and the fact that he busted a nut to get it shipped worked out really well for me.

So far I've only had the chance to run my 212 with my Mesa M6 and I've been more than thrilled with that pairing. Hopefully I will get some time at home in January so that I can get together with some friends to jam a bit with this rig.

Greg is a great guy!!! I bought my TC Electronic rig from him.

Juan is local and I got to go pick it up instead of waiting for the brown truck.

Not to keep beating this 48 page horse. But my only question after 2 hours of play is where has this cabinet been all my life? Gosh I hope the euphoria lasts. No gig 'til it makes an outdoor Christmas debut next Wednesday night.

Curious to hear some smaller Berg cabs now.

I consider the AE212 my "smaller Berg cab". You should hear the NV cabs.:D

To keep the euphoria going just go play through something else. I really don't think that there is any comparison with Jim Bergantino's cabinets, personally (IMHO).

+4 Never heard that term. My guess is, it has something to do with a bit of a low mid scooped tone (based on that old Fender tone stack), which I do hear in the M6... hard to pump in the low mids with that head, and that, combined with the deep low end and smooth mids of the AE212 might not be the best combination. Just guessing there. With the extra EQ on the M9, this wouldn't be much of an issue, although again, the M9 is WAY overkill for a 4ohm 212 cab IMO.

+1 to the comments on the AE212 above.... one 410 gone, deciding on the fate of the other one over the next 6 months (been playing 410's since the 80's). This is an absolutely stunningly good 212 cab in virtually every way to my ears, and the first 212 cab that has the right tone, max SPL and form factor to be my 'go to' cab for most gigs.

:p My guess is, it will stick around, but I already decided to give you a shot at it prior to putting it up for sale on the site, if it comes to that. Still LOVE that cab, but the AE212's slightly bigger low end, slightly smaller size and weight, and slightly smoother upper mid response, along with the ability to give my 85%+ of maximum wump is really speaking to me at the moment:D

As we discussed a while back, for your more burpy, punchy, grindy tone (which I LOVE by the way), that AE410 will just sing for you. The AE212 would be more like a smaller, somewhat punchier, more upper mid present 410UL for you.... more of a nice tweak on what you already have versus a total voicing change with the AE410.

Actually, I posted a method to do just that a while back that, at least, worked well for me. But you gotta' be willing to set a voice and use the EQ a bit. Definitely easier on the M9, but also definitely not impossible, or even all that hard on the M6. Just takes a little tweaking.

That said, the native voicing of the head isn't as focused in the low mids as some other heads. I agree with that.

IMHO/IME anyhoo...
