Bergantino AE212; Part 2!!

No dude, I was trying to pry out of you what on earth you meant by "+++++", which has no meaning in English, and could just as easily mean "five stars great" as "five letter swear word".

:p I think he meant A+. It is really a nice system. The TecAmp is a bit extreme (the grind setting is REALLY grindy). But the Mesa sounds pretty nice at all three (I think it is three) crossover points. Of course, the cabs weigh a ton, but that would be another discussion!

Yes sorry for the confusion. (+) = degree of agreement.

and I think I would dig the change in the AE112 also (although there are better 12's for stand-alone use out there IMO).

Pretty sure you would dig it...A Lot. I was just lucky to pick up a set from another TBer and was able to directly a/b the a/b :D. Wish I could have kept the modular AE412.

Just gotta say the AE112s are great with the STM900:bassist:

Which is something that I don't get. Just a year ago, I got a quote from an internet dealer for $999, shipped for a new one. So why are used ones the same price ? Is it because they are now, " collector's items " ?

Not exactly a collector's item, but today, if you want the Berg tone in a lightweight package, you'll have to pay the rarity fee.

You should have bought it then, because that was a deal. The cabinet was selling for $1049 when discontinued. Add a cover for $79, shipping, and there you go. As far as used, one in mint shape with shipping, (not exactly cheap) and a cover, $1k is pretty close. By the way, it's a great box.

Because it is a highly regarded cab that was discontinued very early in its production, there aren't many out there. I assume anyone who has one in very good condition would most likely sell it at a very slight discount from new, since the demand would be pretty high.

Just good old 'supply and demand' at work on that one.

+1

And most people tend to take REAL good care of high end cabs, so it'll probably be in nearly new condition as well.

100% agree. It always amuses me whenever these types of questions come up. In the end, it's worth whatever people are willing to pay. I have seen them going for $900-$1000 on the used market. So, that seems to be what the market will pay. At least at this point. Like any product...it could change.

Has anyone had to replace a speaker in their AE212? I need a replacement and since the cab is discontinued what are my options? Should I be contemplating getting 2 new speakers? Would it be possible/sound good to get 2 of the 12's from the CN line as a replacement?

I've sent out a message on the Bergantino site but I haven't heard anything yet. I'm sure someone will be contacting me soon.

If anyone has had to replace a speaker in their AE212 I'd love to hear what your solution was.
