Bergantino AE212; Part 2!!

but in a gig context I think the AE212 sits better in the mix. It leans a bit more toward being present and punchy rather than big and pillowy, though it does have a touch of those characteristics. It's a wonderful balance IMO.

IMO, the AE cabs really are a genius design, in that on paper, they seem to go against what bass players want, but in execution, they absolutely get the job done.

Per Eublet's comment, I do not use them together. The good news is, either cab can keep up with the loudest drummer and stage volume I experience, so most would have no need for more than one of these larger AE's IMO.

I gig on the road quite a bit, and often in the same city, so I have one rig there and one where I live so I don't have to rent gear or fly with anything. So, the AE410 is soon to move to St. Louis (replacing my 410UL that has been there for almost a decade!), and the AE212 will stay here in Detroit. I have a Thunderchild TC112 in each location for my smaller gigs.

Both sound wonderful with virtually any head I've tried them with, but the Markbass F500 really speaks to me with my J Basses and both of those cabs.

This is correct, that was definitely my stack. And yes, I could only use the AE112 and AE212 together while using the Epifani head. Which has two separate 500 watt amps in it capable of 4ohms each. You can do the same with an Epifani 902c or something like a Genz Benz Shuttlemax 12. Obviously, you can also do it with any other amps that can handle a true 2ohm load as well. It is a killer combination.

Call it an AE312. :)

Not heading through Chicago this time. I will be in the future though, and will let you know!

I will be staying in St. Louis for at least a few days though... a couple of gigs, and I'm teaching a seminar at the University and also client visits for my day gig. If you want to meet me down there for any reason on the weekend of Feb 11th, let me know. Since I'm driving, I can bring anything you want to check out with me.
