Great to hear Jim, you're always one step ahead !!! And we always should be taking good care of our equipment !!!We're getting there Steve. Just working on the variable STD filter! ;-}
. A couple bass players in audience said it sounded very articulate with great tone. Master at 2pm (loud), no FX, HPF at 40, low-mids at 2.0 otherwise flat with Sadowsky PJ 5. Rig sat on Auralex Gramma 2, which helps.Realised I owe an update to this. Well, to be honest, after much back-and-forth between the two firmwares, I have to admit that Jim was right and the official firmware has enough overdrive, after that and when you factor in dynamics it just gets noisy (and not in a very good way, kinda farty). I really liked having more gain for low dynamics but when I dig in on the low B it in't very pleasant. Still, all of the band preferred the heavier overdrive with clean blend compared to less overdrive with no clean signal. At the moment I'm keeping the stock overdrive at full with 1/2 to 2/3 clean signal blended in. Anyway, kudos to Jim again for giving me the chance to test this out.And this, folks, is the definition of over the top customer service. I already have a firmware with heavier overdrive and I like what I'm hearing so far - will report back from our next rehearsal on Sunday.
Firmware 4.43(B) update.
Just wanted to let all B|AMP owners know this was emailed out today. If you have registered your amp and did not receive it, please let me know at [email protected] Also included in this email is a Generic speaker profile. It will work well with all Bergantino and non Bergantino cabinets.
Jim
It does time out after a bit. However, if you turn any of the knobs while in any screen, it will reset the timer. Maybe this will help.Since we are asking for features, I have a UI tweak request. I too have been playing around with new firmware and comparing effects. When it's on the effects screen, I'd like it to stay on the effects screen instead of flipping back to the EQ screen automatically after a short time. It's annoying me when I'm comparing effects settings. Is their already a way to do this? Thanks for considering! @Bergantino
Isn't this what you bass players call a "Passive Tone Control" which is located on the bass for immediate access? ;-}Loaded the new firmware and generic cab profile - as always, a step in the right direction!
However, I've been thinking what someone suggested a few pages back, about a LPF... Sure, the B|Amp is already packed with features and it is a little greedy to ask for more, but I think this one actually makes sense. For example, many players prefer a cab without a tweeter or with the tweeter turned off. It would make sense to be able to send a signal with the highs rolled off to the FOH (not the same as dialing the treble back). Not sure if I would personally use it, but after using (and loving) the B|Amp for over a year, it's the only thing I could see added to the basic tone shaping that would make sense and could be useful.
I could be wrong, but for example at least on most active basses I don't think they work like a LPF, they must be more like the treble knob on an amp since they have a fixed frequency center. If all basses had an LPF I guess there wouldn't be a lengthy thread about HPF and LPF hereIsn't this what you bass players call a "Passive Tone Control" which is located on the bass for immediate access? ;-}

Just a little greedy? ;-}+1 Like maybe if the Bright function could be a boost or cut, instead of boost only. I use the Treble knob like a LPF to cut some the highest treble (rather than turning down the tweeters on my cabs) so I can hear the same thing in my IEMs that's coming from the cabs. This is a different, more limited high treble roll off than just turning down the tone control on the bass - which affects the entire treble and upper midrange. If the Bright could be used as a LPF, it'd free up the Treble knob for further shaping!
But you're right, the B|Amp is already so incredibly feature-packed that I feel a little greedy even thinking about it!
+1, although I guess it's designed with on-the-gig changes in mind. But I also find myself playing a couple of notes and rushing to turn some knob so that it doesn't return to the home screen, so I wouldn't mind at least a few seconds more before it does, if what Burwabit suggests is out of the question. Not a biggie though.Since we are asking for features, I have a UI tweak request. I too have been playing around with new firmware and comparing effects. Currently it's programmed to time out after 20 seconds of inactivity. Just curious what would work for you within reason?+1, although I guess it's designed with on-the-gig changes in mind. I could have sworn it was less than that, so I just went and measured it, and guess what, you are correctCurrently it programmed to time out after 20 seconds of inactivity. Just curious what would work for you within reason?
