Bergantino NV158? ???

You guys don't think this cab is excessively bright? I feel like im just hearing too much of the 6. Like a big peak at 3k. Tom, how did you eq the titan?

I haven't heard the Berg but the M9 is "strong" between 1 and 3K....maybe this is to much yin and yin? What happens if you dump upper mids with the GEQ?

If i cut 2k on the active mids and cut highs i get a more balanced tone with a bit too much 1k. If i cut 1k i end up with a bit too much 2k. Would need a couple bands of parametric to get this where id want it.

Nope I don't feel that it is overly bright. But then again, perhaps it might right out of the box if the woofer hadn't broken in yet.

With regard to EQing the Titan, I tend to leave the Bass and Treble at noon, set the Passive Mid to about 10 o'clock, then dial in a little Mid boost and sweep the frequency until I find the sweet spot (can't remember where that was on the NV115, though, unfortunately).

Break in time is helping balance things out. Couple hours on it at moderate volume now. Also cutting back the passive mid (which I never do with my aguilar, so didn't even occur to me) helped as well. I still just can't get down with the sound of the 6, so I'm going to return it.

This is also cooling my jets on trying an ML112, if this is what 6" mid drivers sound like I think its just going to be not-for-me.

I also tried it with an alembic F1-X with similar results. Sadowsky J, P-bass, Warwick SSI 5'er ...

I used a Shuttlemax 9.2 (which is smooth up top anyway) but I also tried it with a Metro MV5 and Aguilar TH500. That was a little edgy but the Sadowsky ..well.....you know kinda bright anyway. Depends more so I think on what amp you are using?

Not to me. I need some highs in there to balance out the muff of the 15. Jim's crossover does a great job in the transition. I certainly wouldn't call the cab bright. For a 15, it sounds well-balanced to me.

Oooh, good to know! My MB Fusion 800 should be here soon! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

The Fusion 800 is a lot cleaner than I expected it to be. Clean enough to come into my stable. It speaks with great authority through the NV115, but it really shines with the CN212. Tons of punch from either one.

<edit> Oops. I already said that. I said it twice so it must be true.

This weekend I ordered one (1) NV115 from Jive Sound. Its first gig workout next month with my Motown band.

My Motown band has 11 members, including 5 piece horn section. The guitarist and I stand behind the horn section, and if the stage isn't deep (which is often the case) then we have to stand right in front of our amps, and I worry about hearing myself. Depending on how the one NV115 works out, I might get a second to use as a speaker stand. I know, far cheaper solutions exist, but they don't look as cool. :p

Really, the problem is that I've been playing in too-loud bands for so long (what?!?) that I worry about "half stack" solutions. The single cab should be more than enough for this band.

I think you'll be happy with just one.. I can use one for just about all my gigs if I wanted...
