Bergantino NV158? ???

This weekend I ordered one (1) NV115 from Jive Sound. Its first gig workout next month with my Motown band.

My Motown band has 11 members, including 5 piece horn section. The guitarist and I stand behind the horn section, and if the stage isn't deep (which is often the case) then we have to stand right in front of our amps, and I worry about hearing myself. Depending on how the one NV115 works out, I might get a second to use as a speaker stand. I know, far cheaper solutions exist, but they don't look as cool. :p

Really, the problem is that I've been playing in too-loud bands for so long (what?!?) that I worry about "half stack" solutions. The single cab should be more than enough for this band.

I hope you can find time to bring it up may way - would love to hear it!

I guarantee it! It'll be interesting to A/B it with your single 15 (is it a 15/8 or 15/6?), and also a Bag End S15D.

They are 15/8's - I also have the two unloaded spare cabs so I'm going to load them with different drivers for another iteration - will be cool to compare all three!

JGR got rid if his nv215 to keep his pair of bag S15Ds!
Do the Bags give a sealed 15 vibe?

In a lot of respects they do - massively punchy and tight low end.

The NV215 never really did it for me, so it will be interesting to see how the new cab compares.

I'm interested to hear how the NV115 handles a low B.

Fantastically, of course! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist: :D

And again, when you try the NV115 against other great cabs, like the HD212, ML-112, or whatever, it really highlights the "sealed vs ported" thing. I continue to be amazed by this cab.

Hey Jon,
Not to hijack- do the bags handle a low B?

I've played my fivers through Jonathan's Bag End S15D cabs, and also a couple times at a blues jam (house bassist's rig). In short, I love 'em. I wasn't specifically listening for B string response, but if it were deficient in any way I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed!

So, why don't I own the Bags? I probably would by now if they came default with speakon jacks, but I didn't really need them so that small hurdle was enough to obstruct my GAS. I also had a pair of HT112ER cabs as a small rig. But I no longer own the HTs, and a single NV115 seems perfect for all but my Stoopid Loud Rock Band, so that's where I've gone. I look forward to an NV115/S15D A/B at Jonathan's house!

You sold your NV215, right?

Tom, can you give a quick refresher on your opinion of NV115 vs. NV215? As I recall you said the former is not a clone of the latter, but this has become a long thread.

We toss that "YMMV" around a lot, but there certainly is truth in that statement. I always loved the low B performance of the NV215.

So... YMMV... :hiding:

In all fairness, I didn't really hammer the NV215 with any real power. I think I tried it with my Dingwall and the 800RB, maybe my Ashdown ABM500?. I forget. The Ashy has big low end where the GK does not. But I can't remember.

Here you go!

Comparing the two new NV115 cabs to the NV215 was a real eye opener. I am in love with the NV215, and it sounded glorious today. But compared to the newer cabs - particularly the one with the new driver - I have to say, I preferred the slightly more extended, and more "open" high end, the superior balance and even presence through the mids, and the slightly tighter and more focused lows of the NV115. The NV215 did have a slightly more full sound, and there were some overdriven tones where the slightly reduced top end was perhaps helpful, but overall, there wasn't much the NV215 brought to the table that you couldn't get out of the NV115 (or two - more on that in a second). The same could not be said for trying to coax all of the NV115's virtues out of the NV215.

Using both of the NV115's was like swinging a wrecking ball! Two of the new Eminence equipped NV115's would definitely eclipse the total output and low end "heft" of the NV215, despite the added volume of the NV215. Amazing! I would have never thought that a sealed cab that was so relatively compact could have the low end depth and output that the NV115 puts out.

I was in OH last week, although not that close to you Tom.:crying: But, the thought of searching for you crossed my mind. I would love to hear the Reeves and Berg's together. I think you should buy two more so you can have a 2 ohms rig.:bassist::D

Well, the two NV115's and the NV215 probably pair up fairly well... :D

And I could also line up my NV610 and NV412, then drive them all with Monique into a CA9! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist: :D
