I slap a little on my NV610. My tone is punchy, growly, and edgy, with tubey grit sprinkled on top... and I absolutely love it, especially when my strings are fresh. Sure, clean sounds thru the NV610 -- it gets pretty bright -- but with no tweeter it lacks the über-high-end 'ping' (7kHz and above) that some modern slappers prefer.
FYI I think Flea-type slap works great thru it, and I think Marcus Miller style would probably work too, but the NV cabs would not work for, say, the squeaky-clean Ken Smith style slap tones.
Agreed.
I slap 'n pop a little on my NV425, and it gives me enough with what I need.
With my MTD though I can add in some "zing" if needs be.
