Bergentino vs. Epifani

When you start talking 500 series gear there is just so much awesome stuff out there. Personally I would either dump the Juggernaut in favor of a Shadow Hills Mono GAMA or keep a few pres handy depending on the gig. I get a lot of use out of my Great River 500NV and A Designs EM-Silver for bass but they're totally different animals.

I've never used the Purple Action but the Buzz Essence is wonderful for bass compression.

And you didn't even mention EQ options.. Buzz Tonic? Avedis E27? Great River 32EQ? API 550a?

This little bit of shilling/thread subversion is making me want to set up a Lunchbox -> DB750 power section -> Acme rig for my next non-bar gig. :)

A compressor seems unnecessary with the IPs. They have effective DSP going on to accomplish their amazingness. I favor their use in the studio for adding gain but not live to even finger attack. Practice fixes that problem.

so many pro's use them live.
;)
Practice fixes a lot, but not everything. The dynamic range of the IP can be staggering, which is why I use the little and marvellous TLA 50 by Summit in my rig. I put 1 dB on everything, and it sounds great! Occasionally, I dial it up, but have not been without a compressor for over 25 years; how much I use it live is entirely a musical decision.

Live jam at an outdoor gig I had all last summer...one of my better solos at 2:55...with a teeny bit of compression....

i just bought a bergentino 1x12 two weeks ago and i love it! i have an ampeg 4x10 but i needed something smaller for my dorm and for portability. the berg 1x12 fills all the practices and club gigs i play with lots of head room and is tighter, more responsive, and moves more air than my ampeg 4x10.
i directly compared my the berg 1x12 with other 1x12s at the store (eden, glokinklag, etc but not epifani) and it blew all of these cabs out of the water. the higher quality of the berg was noticable immediatly. more low end and better deffinition.
i've never compared it with epifani directly, but its hard to image how a cab could be any better than the berg 1x12.
