Best 1x12 cab out there?

A word about the Epifani and the SVT3. I use this exact set-up for rehearsals and smaller shows. The Epi is 8ohms, and the Ampeg only puts out 275watts (if it even puts that out) at 8ohms. You really have to crank it to get good volume out of this set-up. I think the Epi would be much happier with a higher wattage amp. That said, it sounds very nice to my ears, and the Epi is mind blowingly light. The SVT3 is only supposed to be 26lbs, but after putting it in my rack and throwing a rack tuner and a couple cables in there, the rack feels way heavier than the cab.

I've considered selling the Epifani several times, but the weight to tone ratio on this cab is pretty amazing. If I sold it I would probably get an LDS made, but I wonder if they could make a cab this light that sounds this good. I ab'd the UL112 against the Bergantino AE112 and the HT112ER. I thought it sounded better than the AE but not as good as the HT. The HT was however much more expensive (got my Epi for $350 used!) and felt a lot heavier to me. The HT also only sounded just a little bit better.

One last thing about the tone of this set-up. The SVT3 and UL112 pair surprisingly well. The UL almost seems like it wants to be hifi, and brings out a very full sounding low-end. On the other hand, if I turn off the tweeter, and crank the mids/highs on my amp and bass, I can get a sick growly a$$ aggressive pick tone. It's versatile for sure.

I have to agree with everything you have said. I have both the HT and the UL 112, and I use them together. The HT is far more expensive as you said and weighs about 12 pounds more. If you have to move around alot, use the ul112, it's like a paper weight. When I run them together using my Epi UL 902c, they sound amazing. You really can't go wrong with either or both.

I'm using a Dr. Bass 112LF with a Markbass 604 that I bought recently and I'm so loving the tone I'm getting. I paid 369.00 for the 112LF (I have 2 of them) and I think they are the best buy for the money. I mistakenly I could just use the 2, 112LF's but some of my upper register stuff was getting lost, but they have tones of bottom. Got an awesome deal on the Markbass cab.

When I gig, people look at my rig and say it's a nice little set up till I start playing then they can't believe the amount of sound those 2 cabs put out.

Paired with one of Mark's other cabs like a 210, you'd be rockin'.

In the past, Dr. Bass had issues with turnaround times but I think they've sorted everything out in that area. They had a huge demand early on and couldn't get stuff out fast enough but I will in all confidence order from them again someday soon because I think they make a fantastic product.

Avatar has come up in this thread and I've owned 2 of their 212 cabs and they were worth every penny.
