Best 5 string youve ever played

Love the Lull P5. I've had it 8 years and regardless of the season, temperature, humidity or dryness from central heating, it's never needed a neck adjustment or needed to be tuned aside from changing strings. Solidly in tune and the intonation is always there. Some may not like the 35" scale but all notes up and down the neck are spot on.

I have never tried a Lull. That bass looks absolutey stunning! Bet it sounds amazing, too :-)

If it's deals that is the key.......

I recommend a used Cirrus 5. should be able to pop one for around 800 on a good day, and sometimes there are better days. It's a starting point and a great bass. PLUS, a killer deal imo.

The opposite obvious approach is a used Fender USA J V for about 600 if you can make it happen.

FWIW the only reason I do play a 35" is that I like to bend notes and can't do so as well on a 35". HUGE difference in bending, the rest isn't a big deal.

I agree that it's going to be tough to beat the low B of a Cirrus in the desired price point.

Sometimes a different set of strings with more tension will cure the floppy B. Ernie Ball flats have a lot of tension & have changed my opinion of several of my own basses. I would never have bought them, but that's all the store had. Now I love them on some basses.

True. I've had good luck with stainless steel and prefer them over nickel. I also got a used bass with a great set of strings that I'm still trying to determine what brand they were (each string was taper core except the G). On the other hand, the worst experience I had was with Rotosounds. The bass I put them on didn't have a very good B to begin with, and they made it sound Godawful! I'm not slagging Rotosounds but they just did not belong on that bass!

Pedulla MVP 5 and 6 string are the best I've laid my hands on.
I am not a 5 or 6 string player but the mvp basses are sweet.
I've only owned two 5 strings:a
Yamaha bb5000 and a yamaha trb5p.
The trb5p is 33 7/8 scale
No offense to any one but, avoid carvin.
Play a carvin then play the MVP and you'll know what I'm talkin' 'bout.
I almost bought a MVP 4 20 something years ago, but the ExFactor beat it out and I could of bought any bass on the market.

The best 5 I ever played was a Warwick Streamer Stage II. You can get something with 4 wheels, an engine and a steering wheel for less than some of those though.

I loved the Cirrus 5 as well, and am somewhat in the market for one. Very comfortable and reasonably priced.

Warwick Corvettes are sweet, and under $1,000 used.

Under $600 you can find Ibanez BTB's with a really sweet preamp and the 35" scale that everyone is so crazy over. Now a days they are coming with Bartolini inspired electronics and neck-through construction at reasonable prices as well.

If you're really trying to stay within a budget, check out the Squier Deluxe Active 5.
