It is definatly either "Haitian Fight Song" by Charles Mingus (bassist Charles Mingus) or "So What" by Miles Davis (bassist Ron Carter).

Paul Chambers played on Kind of Blue. Carter joined Davis's group a few years later (for Miles Smiles, E.S.P., Nefertiti, etc.). Carter plays a cool version of the tune on his So What? Blue Note album, btw.
