Best bass thing you ever bought?

While I'd love to say my Big Al, truth is I've gotten more use out of this than anything else bass related I ever purchased.

  • I use it every single day
  • I can tweak it make any bass I own sound awesome
  • I use the beats for inspiration and fun
  • I've used the beats at small acoustic gigs and jams
  • I've taken to places that have no elsectricity
  • It's small
  • It's light
  • It was cheap
  • The built in effects are awesome and inspire me
  • The compressor give it awesome punch
  • It makes for KILLER preamp when recording
Definitely my most useful $$$ spent on bass related gear.

My NYC Sadowsky. I love the tone and way it plays and for a rig GK MB800 and two GK neo 112-II cabs I love it for its portability and small amout of space it takes up in a SUV.

Good call Joe, I would probably go with my Microcube as well, best practice amp in the world bar none!

I am lucky enough to have a cab at home so I can bring my rig back from the jam space, my roland still sits next to it to run drum patterns.

I tell everybody who is looking for a practice amp to get one, and I am sure I have influenced a few people to buy them after gushing about mine.

Ed really opened up the world of bass to me in his books. I am not a "natural" musician, I had to work at it (I still do) and his books really showed me the way.

It's tough for me to pick one, since everything I have at this point is with me because nothing else works as well for what I need.

My Dingwall is an ASTOUNDING bass and I got it through a convoluted series of trades that ended up costing me roughly 1/3rd what I would have to pay to replace it.

The other one that sticks out is my old Japanese Squier Precision; my very first bass was a sunburst Squier Precision (Serial # SQ43465) that I traded to get my second bass.

But, I always missed that original bass, so when I found this one at Music Go Round for $80, I snapped it up! It has plenty of dings and battle scars on it, but it's a FANTASTIC sounding & playing bass. I have several standing offers from musician friends who want to buy it.

And a portable MP3 recorder is such a handy tool, I can hardly imagine how I got by without one until they were invented.

No doubt, hands down, my Sans Amp BDDI. It is essential to my preferred tone. It has been in my signal chain for 15 years. I have two of them, the original and the programmable version is permanently installed on my pedalboard. Highly recommended, if you like what it does for you tone. Not everyone does, of course.

Oh, and DR strings. Never had a bad set and they tend to last 2 to 3 times longer than others I've tried.
