Personal preference out of the (admittedly) few I've tried is the Crybaby GBC-100. Bit of a tone suck, but works nicely for a more vintage effect and does ridiculous things with a Fuzz Face (gets this weird octave up side effect).

I have a snarling dogs wah. I think it's for guitar though, it's the red one, can't remember which specific model it is. But it sounds good, just a tad thin with bass. That's why I opted for the 105q. I like the 105q much more.
Yeah the guitar demos are awesome, and the bootzilla wah sounds good too. That and what you just said are my only references for now.
As long as it gets Burton/Hendrix-y enough, and it's versatile like my WD7 was, I'm okay. I won't run it clean either, heck no.
There's an older Morley PWF I have my eyes on too, but as amazing as those are I can't help it but to think of them as one-trick (beasts) ponies.
I've heard nothing but good about the Morley power fuzz wahs but I've never used one. If you have a filter or blend to help retain your low end a bit with the snarling dog wah, it's probably a great wah for bass. It has three settings on it that are quite versatile IMO. I enjoyed the white room setting the best. It's been a long time since I've used it so maybe I'll give it another shot this weekend. I really like how the 105q has the sort of spring suspension, it makes it very easy to engage and disengage. The snarling dog is sort of a B to bypass, it's like the older Dunlop wahs with the footswitch in front underneath the foot pad.
I use the Crybaby bass-wah (the white one). It has volume and tone adjustment on the bottom and springs back to turn itself off. I've never needed anything else. I've tried others, but they weren't as flexible as the Crybaby.
Didn't Morley make a 'para-wah' in the late 1970's??

I just picked up a used Rocktron Black Cat Moan for next to nothing. So far it's not as thick sounding as the Dunlop, but the moan(fuzz) feature is kinda cool. I'm going to use it at a gig this weekend and see what happens.
Best I've used was a BYOC wah that is a clone of the original mccoy wah. I don't leave home without it if I'm planning to play bass somewhere. It also comes with spare capacitors for greater range and internal trimpots to tune the sound of the wah.

Is it responsive to bass in a good way? I happen to like my 105q but if there is something better out there, Im game to try it
yeah.. i use the moog lp filter sometimes as a wah wah.. i have a yamaha exp pedal that i connect to the cut off on the mooger.. u.ll hv to set the envelope a bit on the lower side coz then theres more movement on the exp to change the cutoff (cutoff is set to zero) otherwise little shifts in the exp pedal cause huge changes which can make it tough to set to the sound u want.. btw i bought mine for $210 from West LA Music and the yamaha exp pedal for $50 from a guitar centre in houston.. so its $260 for a low pass filter/wah/drive unit.. one more thing the mooger's gain stage has no bypass so if u want to u can get like a boss LS-2 and make it bypass-able.. hope this helps
can anyone comment about rocktron mike orlando wah or just the quality of rocktron pedals in general? somebody put up a video and audio file of the rocktron black cat moan or mike orlando wah. i want to know if their bass mode is any good.
Manually sweeping the mid eq on an old Tascam 244 4 track. I've never found anything that worked or sounded quite like it, pure magic. If someone put that in a pedal I'd buy it.
If we expand the definition to include auto-wahs and envelope filters then the Chunk Systems Octavius is my current favorite but the old standby MXR Auto Q has a good sound.
Wow! This brings back memories. Long before I played, I had friends who played and I did sound for them and tried to record them using a 244. I gave it and the rest of my gear to my friend's little brother... I wonder if he still has any of it...

I was interested in this pedal because of how extreme the "Moan" setting sounds. I'm interested in the review of this pedal. The only turn off for me is the on/switch. I wish it had the automatic off when released like the 105.
