Interesting to see USA there for beer. If it was a rating for water, perhaps....

:D:hiding::ninja::hiding::D

USA has tons of small, mid, and micro breweries that are on par with anything out there. It's not all Bud and Miller and has not (well really, ever) been for a long time.

edit: I should add that I have a local and huge store called Ryan & Casey that imports everything they can, and I continue to try as much of it as possible, so there are beers I like from all over the world.

USA
Ireland
Belgian
German
English

the rest

good stuff can be found everywhere now though, it's a beer drinkers paradise these days.

damn, I sound like a drunk.

Sorry, when I checked the poll Ireland was at 0% which blew my mind completely seeing as our alcohol abuse (especially in pre teens, late teens and early 20s is spiralling out of control) as a nation is unbelievable.

Don't worry man, Irish stouts and ales will always have special place in my heart... and liver.

edit: and brain.

its like the family guys few of ireland:

"so, we've just discovered the secret to eternal life, aswell as a sustainable source of power without any pollution"

"hang on there a minute lads, look what dougals just invented, he's calling it whiskey"

"so, what were we on about yesterday?"

"i dont know, lets drink some more whiskey"

yes i know its not a perfect transcription but i cant find a clip and cant remember that scene perfectly.

I've grown up drinking Abita beer. Good stuff, but not sure if it's a worldwide contender. Just my opinion. The thing is, there are SOOOOO many microbrews here in the States that no one has ever heard of. I don't mean brands like Abita or Sierra Nevada, which are border line mass brews without the preservatives. I mean true micro brews that might not even bottle their beer at all, or if they do it is in very small batches, distributed in a very small local area. I've done a lot of business travel around the country, and I've been to more brew pubs than I could begin to count. There is some darn fine beer here in the states that competes with anything I've had in Holland, the UK, or Germany. Anyone who says otherwise just hasn't traveled around in the States and sampled enough of it to know.

19 people voted for the USA :p

oh dear, those guys have either got bad taste or are very closeted in their beer drinking experiences.

(don't take me too seriously, i am only taking the piss)

It's not that our beer drinking experiences are horrible, but, there are now 1200 breweries in the US. And about 80% of them are making real good beer...technically there's no such thing as "American Beer", besides the mass marketed swill, but every style in the world is being made here. No, its not "the original", but when you live 5000 miles from the "original", america has everything one could imagine. :)

cheers
