Best Chorus Pedal(s)?

I've been using the Boss CEB-3 (or 5?) for about 3 years, I love it, went with the CEB and not just the CE since at the time I didn't know guitar effects could be used on bass... Ohh, how much I've grown... But from what I've heard, I'm quite anxious to try out that Maxon chorus if I ever find one in a store

I am a big fan of chorus effects, as you all know, and the Roland Jazz Chorus amp has the best chorus sound ever. End of discussion. It is the standard by which all chorus pedals are measured. That said, it is not a chorus pedal. Never has been, never will be. It's a built-in chorus effect in a solid-state amp. Unless you have a footswitch, which I do, it doesn't exactly count. Towards that end, I plunked down a shekel or five-hundred and seventy to find my chorus sound. And you know what? I have. In chorus, no pun intended, with the JC-55's built-in, the Moog MF-108M ClusterFlux is enough to make your inner ears wet. Add the EHX Stereo Polychorus, and you will not be able to stand up for three days. Read my reviews about the two pedals, and you will understand just why it is I love chorus pedals. They offer an intellectual challenge that fuzzes and overdrives simply cannot. They are on par with phasers, and are cut from the same cloth as flangers. In fact, both Polly and, well, I haven't come up with a great name for the ClusterFlux, are capable of so much more than mere chorusing, which I have detailed in reviews on this site.

That said, I am a man of science, and I like to think of myself as an anal-retentive [censored for your protection], so I am always on the lookout for the next best (or worst) thing in chorus, much as bongomania, and I apologize for the lack of capitalization, is for compressors.

I'm actually really happy with the Exar one, the "Moby Dick". Obviously since I rep Exar pedals it would be reasonable to dismiss me saying I like it, but I don't go around hyping Exars in threads about all other kinds of pedals. I just really, really like the Moby Dick chorus.

I like my Boss CEB-3. It is virtually noise-free and does not cut any low end. The low filter is also very useful. Some people have complained that it is too subtle, but to me it's just right. Any more, and I start to lose definition in the mix.

I went with the CEB-3 for it's subtlety. That and the used price didn't hurt:p

I actually use my subdecay echobox as my chorus.. the depth and speed knobs can be set to sound like a chorus. But you have to turn the time all the way off on the the delay. Or if I want some CRAZy modulated delay/chorus noisyness I just turn all of it on. Its a great pedal!

Best chorus pedal? The Mr. Black Double Chorus. Hands down the best chorus I've heard in a long time. As a refugee of the 80's, the sound of cheesy chorus usually makes me vomit in my mouth a little. This pedal sends four delay signals to double up the modulation so that the effect is thicker and deeper than your standard chorus sound. It also can do flanger type sounds when used with a distorted tone. I got the pedal on pre-order and have made a quick bass demo. Enjoy!
