best delay pedal in your opinion

I've had one for 8 years now. Never had a problem and the tape sim on it is amazing. It doesn't just sound like an analogue delay with a fixed LFO-rate chorus swishing away.

I don't use delay very often but for the price, my carbon copy is totally legit. My Rhodes player upgraded his carbon to a strymon timeline a few months ago which is amazing but there was a bit of a learning period. The carbon copy is straight forward, if you're only looking for a set and forget delay. i hated his timeline at first but he hooked up a controller and is now reversing loops and soloing over it with delay craziness all with one pedal (2 if you count the controller). I have no need for so many bells and whistles so I'm happy with my mxr.

Seems the carbon copy gets a lot of love here with us bassists. Do any of you have experience with the carbon copy and the older DOD Digital Delay?? That's what I have and I'm wondering if the carbon copy would be a step up or down from the DOD. I'm really wanting to get a different delay and have been following this thread. That EH1 looks pretty awesome too. Do they still make it?

What's not to like about echo park tap tempo? It's the fastest tap tempo outside of dedicated tap tempo switch there is. No hold button crap. A useful hint - switch the pedal on/off by stomping the left side of the switch, lightly tap on the right side for tap tempo. This way you'll never accidently turn it on/off.

I just prefer a dedicated tap tempo switch.

I found my holy grail in a Catalinbread Echorec. The sound quality is incredible and the rythmic possbilities are endless.
The only thing lacking is tap tempo, but I've never really needed it since the repeats decay so beautifully like the real Binson Echorec and I generally use very few repeats with a high clean/wet ratio.

My two tops are:

Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay (or the clone Sea Urchin). It plays friendly with bass.

Line 6 Tone Core Echo Park. It's tap tempt, several different delay pattern setting, fair analog and tape suimulations, some stupid modulation settings, and several different delay types (such as ducking, reverse, etc).

Carbon Copy here, nice for an analog delay. For digital I would want tap tempo and such. Now I'm interested in trying out the Aqua Puss, if it sounds so much better than the MXR. I thought they were both designed by the same guy at Dunlap, and were very similar? But now I am intrigued.

The Strymon stuff is hard to beat, my guitarist has the El Capistan and even though it's a tape echo emulator I'd say it has more than I'd ever need in a delay, and it sounds fantastic.

The Deep Blue Delay/Sea Urchin is really basic. It only has level, delay time, and repeat controls. So compared to the Echo Park, it's hardly anything. If you are looking for features, it really isn't that great. I just love how it sounds.

I've never messed with the carbon copy, but they seem pretty similar on crapy youtube demos; other than the "mod" switch on the MXR pedal.

I've been wanting to replace my DOD digital delay for a while now and I've been eyeing the echo park for quite some time. I think this will be what I replace it with. I like the fact it has a whole bunch of features on it. I don't want/need one of those big line 6 modules. Even though they look tempting.
