Best effects pedals GO!

favorite in what context? I've been having fun playing with a bit crusher and a synth pedal, but they're pretty useless on my blues/jazz gigs.

Do you count a preamp as an effect? I use one of those on most gigs. I've used sansamps for years, though I just added a JHS pre to try out.

I like using a compressor when I play with a pick on my bass with tapes on it, but not so much when I"m playing fingerstyle on flats.

I use OD and/or fuzz at lot in one of my rock projects.

what are your favorite effects?

If I could only have one it would be a 4 eyes fuzz as there are soo many sounds in there. Sounds fantastic and is really, really versatile.
The one I have had more fun with than any other is the unpleasant surprise.
But I would not have either, had I not lent away my 80's Rat to some one who years later claimed it was broken and could not be fixed. He also said it would not be possible to send me the parts so I could have 'my' electronics guy have a look at it.

I realize there are SO many effects pedal makers out there now and I'm sure not familiar with all of them, but God Help Me, I got to ask ( . . . . and the question sounds suitably ludicrous . . . .): What is a Broke Dick, and what effect does it add ?

(Whew . . . . I was going to ask 'what does a Broke Dick do' . . . but it wound up on the cutting room (!) floor . . . .)
