Man, I bought so many good gear in 2017... I'm gonna make a selection for best amp gear, bass and pedals.
Amp: GK MB Fusion 500. I was looking for a good Class D amp that was small, lightweight, versatile and around 300-500 watts power. I got it all with this amp. It took a while to get used to that GK sound, but the valve preamp sound is great and I love the 2 channels option. And I can carry it in a backpack.
Bass: I bought 2 basses in 2017, but the one that I choose as the best buy is my Epiphone Jack Casady. I always wanted a semi-acoustic bass and I had been looking for one for a while, and then I got a chance to buy one used that was absolutely pristine. It didn't had a scratch in it. I love how it looks and how it sounds. It's one of my best sounding basses and since I placed a set of tapewounds it totally kills.
Pedal: I bought a lot of pedals this year (as usually happens every year...), so this is a tough one, but I have to choose my Boss MD-500 as my best buy of the year in this section. It's super complete, super tweakeble, it can be used in so many ways and I didn't even scratched the surface of it. It really is top quality and with a better price compared to the competition.

2017 was a gas for me, I bought and received quite a bit of bass related gear. A new bass head, speaker cabinet, new combo amp, two new bass guitars, a few straps, a mini bass guitar headphone amp off the top of my head. Oh and some setup tools 
I must say that I really enjoyed this thread. Congrats to everyone on their new gear. If it excites you and inspires you to play it is worth every penny!
I haven't had to buy a new bass in over 30 years, my old one was so perfect, but this year it finally warped out beyond repair, so I bought this ibanez hybrid. Still working the different tuning, and spacing.
Wow, that's really cool. My 'new' setup has side handles, so my top handle hanger doesn't work with it. This might be just the ticket!
that pickguard looks amazing. wanna let me know where you got it?
Thanks! I bought the material at Pickguardian, and Jeff made it for me. It is also on the back access for the controls/battery compartment. We streamlined the shape from the original.

Honestly not sure if I bought it this year or late 2016, but if the first option is the case I'd have to say my all tubes 50W Dynacord Bass-King amp and the cabinet I bought to it, both relatively cheap used:
As a close second comes the EMG Geezer Butler P/J pickup set I upgraded my Ibanez Mikro with, but honestly I am a bit unsure if that was a 2016 or 2017 purchase as well.
Huge improvement to my Mikro's tone in any case.
If I in fact did buy the amp and pickups in 2016, I would have to say my best gear buy in 2017 probably would have to be something as humble as the Tech 21 GT2 clone, Behringer GDI21, which works awesomely as distortion unit for bass (Justin Chancelor from Tool in fact uses a GT2 as part of his dirt chain).
Possibly the Seymour Duncan Rickenbacker neck replacement pickup I bought could be a candidate as well, but since I haven't had the oportunity to actually put it in something yet I guess not, even if I know from having that pickup in a bass before that it is potentially capable of reproducing an amazing tone.
